“He is going to get his new contract I believe,” says Bailey. “Liverpool have not been enamoured with the way his people have acted, really. But they recognise that he now needs that wage rise, he needs to get on better terms.

Finally they've realised that he can't be number 15 or something on their payroll anymore.
Only van Dijk had more starts last season.

Awful result by Liverpool that may be very costly in the end.
I didn't get the substitution of Lucho at all. He was the best of the front 3. Unless he was subbed out of exhaustion or tiredness.
To me they should only have changed jota for Núñez or gakpo.
Forrest is a really good team but after seeing the las 15 of the first half it looked like Liverpool would get the goal in the 2nd.
I really hope Chiesa may start playing fast he would've been a much better sub of Lucho.
Good game by lucho but awful game for the team.
NFO will probably be the crystal palace of this season.

    Liverpool -NFO 0-1

Like Klopp it seems like Slot prefers to keep Salah in, Diaz and Jota been steadily getting early subs. probably trying to get everyone in rhythm, and to be fair after 2 tough games and flying across continents with a game on Tuesday you probably don't want to risk Diaz getting an injury when you have quality on the bench.

It seems like the qualifiers break is s big problem, especially for the South American players. And next month it will happen again..

Since Núñez doesn't need to make these long trips maybe he or gakpo should've started and let Díaz start on the bench instead.

But that's very easy to say after the game has been played no one saw this coming really.

I'm surprised Nunez didn't start. Even if you don't prefer him you have another game in 3 days, if the guy is fully rested and training with he club and can't get a start then I think that says alot about what you think of him.

Must just be minutes management due to aforementioned FIFA break and because Champions League is coming up.

Lucumi did not even start for Bologna. Same for Cabal at Juve

Bologna is going to be the punching bag of the CL. They were so close to losing today. I think they would've been bottom of the table had that happened. I wonder if a last positioned team has ever played in CL. Maybe when juve was sent to serie b but don't think they were in CL back then.

Yeah seems cabal is not to the coaches liking, subbed off vs Roma and today totally ignored.

I'm ok with him getting benched, he must be exhausted after all the traveling.

plenty of other internationals on that team that would have also been exhausted, yet started.

I don't really compare it with Europeans or Alison in goal. The only one would be Salah I guess who went to Africa. Macca had pretty few mins vs Colombia.

They have a lot of good forwards, and Diaz has played alot of games already, good managers rotate their squad to keep everyone fresh and competitive.

He will easily double his goal tally this season if this continues. He scored 8 last season and he's already scored 5 now.

I guess resting him in the Champions League looks like a genius move now.
Gotta manage his minutes between all the tournaments he has to play in between Club and Country.

Exactly. Colombian media shitting their pants because gakpo played and did it well vs Milan. I think slot has it clear in his head that Díaz is the starter. Even when Díaz has played and gakpo has replaced him he never has looked as dangerous. I even hope Chiesa will get playing time soon so pool can win all tournaments or at least stay alive for a long time.
