She got hurt in practice on Monday and had surgery Tuesday. She's expected to miss 4-6 weeks, which could work out to anywhere from 1 to 3 games (Washington, Boston, New York)

Not the greatest news in the world, but it could be worse. Thankfully, the Courage have an off week on April 12. Now XYZ's girl might get a shot to show what she can do...

My figures had it at 1-2 matches by the schedule that is on the Courage site.

Yeah, you're right. What I think I did was go "today's the 12th, so a month from now would be March 12th, and six weeks would be March 26th."

Math was never my strong point.

Let's hope that Lucks' recovery is on the short end of the estimate regardless.

It's never good news when a player gets injured. The good news is that the surgery was a success and Lucks will be back soon.

The other good news is that we have Burke who, it appears, will be making her first WUSA start sooner rather than later. After the season Luckenbill had last year, I thought Burke would have a long wait. Evidently not. Stuff happens. It looks as if Burke is going to be thrown right into the fire. If the Courage have to start the season with a rookie in goal, I'm glad that rookie is Burke. Four years of watching her play have made me a believer. The pressure will be on but Burke can handle it.

I also wonder if the Courage will be activating another keeper just in case. And, in general, if teams will be carrying two keepers on their active rosters this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if most teams carry two active and one reserve keeper, like last year. IIRC, it was required that one of the team's reserve players be a keeper...part of the reason for the mid-season addition of the third reserve player.

I'm not sure exactly how the injured list procedure works with the WUSA, with respect to when you can have a "21st" player on your roster as opposed to just dressing someone from the reserves.
