Thanks - I also thought he lined up mostly on the left in the PL. Didn't realize he preferred the right.
Although primarily an RW, he plays both wings and CM/AM. The other two don't, which gives him an advantage. As does the fact that Edwards is on loan. He may be bought at the end of the season or he may return to Sporting though having worked under Parker at Tottenham's academy, I'd imagine an "understanding" exists where he will be signed in the event of promotion.
Koleosho starts! I'm delighted to report. Burnley (promoted and aiming to pip Leeds for 1st place) visiting QPR (safely mid-table, so not motivated by greed or fear). Edit: Very quickly Burnley power ahead 0-3, though I don't see any direct Koleosho involvement in the goal-scoring.
Moving right along, Burnley won 0-5, to move top of the table. Koleosho lasted 83', until the last wave of substitutes, though with no goals/assists to his credit. Leeds will likely need to win their final two matches to (re-)claim the top spot from Burnley.
Koleosho is back on the bench, Burnley (2nd, but hoping to pass Leeds for first) hosting Millwall (who must win to slip into the promotion playoff picture).
Can't image. His playing time fell off a cliff in the second half of the season. It bounced a few times at the bottom for some appearances once it hit the ground, but yeesh. And having been with both Italy (seriously) and Canada (flirting) since leaving the US program, seems like a stretch. And sadly, if he were to be picked, it's probably because both of them pass on him, and not because he desperately wants to play for the US
At right wing he doesn’t have much competition. Weah, Musah, Reyna/Aaronsen, and maybe Haji Wright. He’s got to be in the mix.
He went from potentially being good enough to Italy to not being good enough for all 3 countries. He’s still young and I hope he does turn things around.
Based on what? He has had a grand total of 179 minutes of play for Burnley since the new year with no reported injuries. He will be sold or loaned out for next season.
Haji plays almost exclusively on the left. The rest of the time, he's up top. I'm sure he could play on the right in extremis, but there's a reason nobody plays him there. As for the others, apart from Reyna, they may be struggling to deliver but they're also playing at a higher level than he is and they're also getting reasonable amounts of PT across the entire season. Unless the lad starts getting PT, there's no reason for him to be in the mix at all. Doubly so if he left the USSF programme for then-greener pastures.
Koleosho was being considered for Italy as recently as March. https://sports.yahoo.com/article/burnley-player-koleosho-asked-ready-201100136.html
Dude Pulisic can play on the right so Haji can play left. Poch loves him some Musah at wing on the right. On top of that Luca got 179 minutes of play at his club since the new year with no injuries. Let your man crush go.
He's now with the Italy u-21's, getting ready for the U-21 UEFA championship. Says he wants to win a title in Italy. Seems firmly out of the running for the USA. https://figc.it/en/national-teams/news/koleosho-i-want-to-win-another-trophy-with-italy/
