Jungbauer was born in Miami but raised in Germany. He currently plays for the FC Schalke youth teams and seems committed to the playing for the United States. According to @USAprospects he trained with the 1st team this past week. He is a '96 and can play centerback but predominately lines up as a wingback. I've heard about this guy but what's his deal? 16 and training with the first team means he can't be half bad and yet I've never heard his name ever get mentioned in association with the US u17s . (I know not the right thread but just curious).
I was wondering the same thing... he seems very talented if he did indeed train with the first team and such a young age. USAProspects called him 'an aspiring American' but it would seem unlikely that someone who has American roots and plays for such a big team would go unnoticed. He also claims JJ is his favorite Schalke player haha. Edit ---- After stalking his twitter he says he played for 2 MLS academies, Galaxy and NY Redbulls so evidently he has spent some time in the states.
Even his Twitter handle tends to confirm his US birthplace & identification with the country, Then he opens the page with this: Miami kid, raised in Germany, soccer is my passion' US nationalteam my religion! Currently playin' for Schalke04 in Germany!
Odd that he would identify us as his national team of choice if he was truly raised in Germany. I imagine he spent a good amount of time in the US if this is true.
Must have been the being born in Miami, too many fine ass girls down there to ever resist being an American
Maybe the son of an Army member stationed in Germany? That would explain his allegiance and US, and USMNT fans know all about our military presence in the country.
I googled Luca and found this nice threat, which I can fill with some information: Luca Leon Jungbauer was born in Miami on June 21st 1996. His first club was Hamborn 07 in Germany which has cooperations with big clubs in Germany. He went then to the local rival Rot Weiss Oberhausen (first team is in the 4th league now, after reasearch I found out that they played in the 2nd Bundesliga). After 1 season Luca went to Schalke. He played there till 2010 before he moved with his mom to the US. His mom is from the US, his dad is German. US soccer wanted him to join the residency program, his agent says. He signed a contract at Schalke till 2014. Quote of Luca's agent about his nt career: "Luca wants to finish German school before he is playing with nationalteam." Source: I'm a friend of Luca's agent, and worked with him together.
I'm a friend of some people myself, and most of them would think you do Luca no favor here sharing that "quote".
Schalke's first team didn't train at all this past week, their first training was today. Maybe he trained with "the first youth team".
https://twitter.com/USAprospects/status/285800582957121536 That is where I got it from... who knows how legitimate it is. Someone tweeted at him about his agent doing 'national team shopping and he responded with this. "I don't wanna play with nationalteam now, it would be to stressful. I think next season I'll have less stress..."
Schalke know. "Training starts again at 01/02." No German team trains between Christmas and New Year.
So young ... with some symptoms of early onset Doucheberger's Syndrome. But whatever, his heart seems in the right place (i.e., Miami). http://www.facebook.com/pages/Luca-Leon-Jungbauer/219099188116290 Current- Right Wingback at FC Schalke 04 http://www.linkedin.com/pub/luca-leon-jungbauer/4b/b39/894 http://twitter.com/lucafrommiami/status/275984409201610752/photo/1 Don't like this one as much: http://twitter.com/lucafrommiami/status/268404122171084800/photo/1
Haha go easy on him, mirror-shots combined with the 'duckface' are sadly very common in teenagers across the world. He seems to be committed to the USA and he's got 'swag' .
Almost all of us had early onset Doucheberger's Syndrome. The trick is to make sure to get treated early so that it doesn't become full-blown Doucheberger's Syndrome.
I'm part of that generation too. Our generation is able to broadcast ourselves, duckfaces included, instantenously for better or for worse.
Damn kids these days. But you have to admit, being a "nice, normal mannered person" doesn't exactly correlate well with being an amazing athelete (in general, with plenty of exceptions). Look at the NBA, NFL...
