This is happening so often I'm beginning to think it's part of Celta Vigo's game plan. The next time he makes it to the end of the match uninjured and still on the field will be the first time.

Looked like his calf to me. He gave the substitution sign to the bench and ran around pretty well for the next few minutes before sitting down on the grass. Hopefully just calf tightness and nothing too serious

fwiw that’s almost exactly same thing that transpired a few weeks ago with the injury a scare and he ended up being ok

It's a shame about how much MLS expect to make from players and sending them to the wrong clubs. Imagine Cade Cowell at Celta. He'd be learning from Aspas whom they suggested as a future sporting director at Celta when he retires.

he'd be playing on the left just ahead of LDLT.

Next game is tomorrow, away against Osasuna. It is a difficult place to play (El Sadar).

Celta isn't the kind of club to take fliers on MLS players. Their big risk was a €1M transfer fee and €250k/yr salary for LDLT.

Over the last 10 matches for each team, Celta de Vigo stands in 4th place in La Liga.

This roughly coincides with when Luca de la Torre emerged as a regular starter for them.

Wow, I need to start watching these games.

Anyone have intelligence on how he plays in the system? What’s his role?

The number I've seen is €270k/year. It's reported he has a 4 year contract with a total salary of €1.08m,

    https://www.capology.com/player/luca-de-la-torre-35938/

It's Spain, not England, and Celta is not a particularly wealthy club. It fits with the known salary of other players.

Absolutely. As I've said in this thread, he may not be their best player, but he visibly and demonstrably makes the team better. They have been a blast to watch the last dozen games.

It's still early(ish) days, but whoever had Luca as yanks abroad midfielder of the season please raise your hand.
    Anyone?
    Anyone?
-Sorry, no, family doesn't count Ms. de la Torre.

He is a LM in a 4-4-2. He isn’t a focal point but keeps good positional discipline both ways and has a knack for making a play when the opportunity arises. Has can knock the ball off opposition. He plays mostly in the channel - not an all out flank player, nor CM. Fits into the scheme well.

Not really. From the same website it looks like he’s considerably under payed compared to his teammates: https://www.capology.com/club/celta-vigo/salaries/

Most of his teammates are at least close to 1M euros, if not over. Though I’m also surprised that Strand Larsen’s reported salary is so low (450K) given that his reported transfer fee was 12M, so maybe this is Celta’s post-Covid normal?

Also coincides with new management... And from what I've seen the new manager has a lot more to do with their change in form than Luca's inclusion in the lineup. Frankly, just about every time I've watched him he's been one of the least impressive/influential players in Celta's lineup.

This is a little silly. Tyler Adams has been MUCH better than Luca this season.
