This seems like a pretty good pickup for the Mutts. God I hate saying that. http://mlsnet.com/content/04/met0326sgr.html From the above article: "The MetroStars announced today that they have acquired Argentine forward Sergio Galvan Rey with an allocation from Colombian club Once Caldas. The 30-year-old Galvan Rey has scored 171 goals (160 league goals and 11 in Copa Libertadores) in his eight years with Once Caldas in the Colombian first division and Copa Libertadores. The native of Concepcion, Argentina scored two goals against Argentine heavyweight Velez Sarsfield and Paraguayan goalkeeping legend Jose Luis Chilavert on March 17 to give them a 2-0 win." Anyway, I'm still wondering if we're done with our roster or could there still be a late addition?
30? Good pickup but not great. Didn't they have some Polish guy last year who was 34 or something? If he was 24 I'd be worried but at 30 I'm not too worried. Someone will have to really impress Nicol in order to make the roster, and I haven't heard or seen any players in camp or in the formations. So I am confident to say that the roster we have now is the roster we are going to have.
I think the scouting reports indicate this guy is in a different class than Justowiak. He led the Colombian leagues in scoring a few years ago. Not a bad deal though: the Mutts ended up getting Walker, Justowiak, and Galvin for Tim Howard. (And what did Columbus get for Stern John...?) I hope you're wrong. This defense is one injury away from letting in a lot of goals. I think Nicol is keeping his options open and waiting for a good deal. ...at least I hope...
Yeah, a few years ago. This year he's been starting on the bench in the Libertadores...65+ minute substitute for the most part. I'd be worried that he may have suffered a recent injury, or that his fitness level may no longer be what it was once given that he's been playing a LOT of games every year with little to nothing in the way of breaks.
