I know we all goof on the loyalty points the team provides for season ticket holders, but I gotta tell you guys, I think they ironed things out to make it a lot more fair this year. This year for auctions, you could only bid points from one of your seats, as opposed to all of your points from multiple seats. It becomes much more fair to those accounts with just one or two seats. I am definitely happy with the program this year. I was not only able to qualify with the points from my one seat for the exclusive meet the team event (to be held prior to next season), but I also won one of the jerseys auctioned off this week. I managed to get a Maurice Edu game worn, autographed jersey. So, even though we make fun of the loyalty points, I for one am exceptionally happy with the whole program.
2 same seats since 2010. Seldom miss a game. Have never won an auction. And it sounds like I didn't win this one either. While you make a lot of good points it doesn't seem like loyalty points made up for terrible soccer seeing how many people (at least that I've talked to) are giving up their season tickets. Glad you won something though.
Thanks. You are right, it does not make up for the quality on the field. I actually am giving up 2 of my 4 seats this year. It has nothing to do with the Union though. All 4 of my kids who have gone are now away at college. It just does not make sense to purchase all four anymore. As for my two seats, well I guess I am part of the problem. I've had them since 2010, and I'll have those seats until either the Union or I no longer exist. I enjoy going, have never missed a game, and will continue to go whether they suck or they win the cup. BTW- how many points did you bid?
I won the auction too. Snagged a Vinny autographed away jersey. Last season I was fortunate to win a Wenger game worn jersey. Pretty stoked, now hopefully they'll address the on field performances. These are the only two auctions I've bid on.
Tried on an android phone, ipad, imac to bid on the game worn jersey, and couldn't get it to work on any. The phone wouldn't let me click on the bid now (like there wasn't a link) and the Mac products wouldn't even load the account manager. I whiffed
I bid 1700 and didn't get it. I only missed maybe one game this year. What's the threshold for winning bids?
at a certain point I have to imagine it probably just becomes a random draw..... it's the same as the free buffet they offered - at the end of the day there is only 28 winners out of presumably thousands... meh. I missed the bidding, but my seat had 2060 points on it... guess I should have paid more attention.
I wouldn't think so. I assume that it's pretty easy to just go down the list of the top 28 bids. I had 2489 points and was "outbid" so don't sweat it. I wonder what the cutoff was. Given that most STH who care about Loyalty Points attend most games, the difference would appear to be how much a STH spends on merchandise and concessions than anything else. If you spend $1000 over the course of the season, you'll get all of the perks. Spend $100 or less and you get nothing.
I guess you are pretty much right in your assessment Matt. All four of my seats were well over 3000. The one that I bid with was over 4300. I'm pretty sure that I was @ 5th on the list. I was told that Le Toux, Barnetta, Blake, and Sylvestre were gone. It is possible they had two of each but I don't know.
I believe they had home and away jerseys for some of the players. fwiw the seat I bid points from had I believe 3000 points on it, and I don't do the whole buying loyalty points thing. I even missed a match on that seat as well. Usually had the early entry bonus. Not too many win bonuses these past few seasons either! I missed quite a few TV codes as well. Do the open cup matches count towards the Loyalty points? If so that might help explain some of the higher point totals. Just curious.
I just go to matches (league, friendly, cup). I don't buy anything, don't do tv codes, dont go in early. I maxed out around 2200
I bid 2906 points and won from somewhere in the middle of the list. I picked Ayuk as I've enjoyed his play this year and I like his potential.
I easily spend $1,000 a year - on Victory or Dogfish head beer. So, I get no points because they do not work at the kiosks. I'm not bitter. But my beer is deliciously bitter.
I'll step out of my usual snarky responses for a brief question*: What other metric could they track to determine it? You "like" the team more than other people? Tweets? Fan fiction posts? The goal isn't so much to give you stuff as it is to reward "loyal" customers (you may be using the word 'fan' here), who spend a lot of money. If you have one seat in TRE at $300 a year, you really aren't worth as much as the family of 4 midfield at $2000. I'm going to side with the team on this one and award a barely used or exerted in Vitoria jersey (sweatshop produced, so real cost is what, $10?) to the guy who spends $2k on tix and probably $1500+ in concessions. Nothing personal, it's bidness. *Admittedly, I was still a bit snarky.
Well, it is December now and that means end of the year,"Best Of " awards. In the spirit of another meaningless offseason, lets hold our own awards for fan fiction and tweet the winners by Christmas. Sound good?
