FC Biel/Bienne are no more. They are officially bankrupt and will start the season down in 2. League Regional (6th tier). No word on where they'll play since their no longer allowed in the Tissot Arena until their outstanding debts are paid.

So a little more news on this. The U18 team from FC Biel/Bienne is what is going to be resurrected in the 2nd League. The city of Biel/Bienne is going to allow the team to play at Tissot Areana. In one sense, some rent/concessions etc is better than nothing.

One other note of importance, FC Biel-Bienne finds themselves 5 points ahead in their 2nd League group at the winter break. There is a good chance that they will be promoted to the 2nd Interregional League next season. 1st step back up the ladder.

What will be interesting is if Wil have to file for bankruptcy and go down to the fifth tier. Kriens will come up, but then who will next get a license to allow for promotion? So many teams get rejected for numerous reasons, and it only seems like one or two teams actually get licenses to get promoted to the Challenge League. I don't see teams like Stade Nyonnais or Rapperswil-Jona having a good enough stadium situation to allow for promotion.
