I was reading in one of the local papers and they said that FC Bulle, FC Fribourg and SC Düdingen are going to create a "Team Fribourg" next year. It will play in the highest placed team's league. The team will be a cantonal team, with none of the clubs loosing their status, but all will be developmental clubs. There is also talk of a new stadium to seat 5k just off the autoroute. Their goal is BCL "in the short term". http://www.lematin.ch/sports/football/trois-clubs-fribourgeois-fondent-team-fribourg/story/22753867
Argh youve got the lets merge to represent a whole area disease, weve had it for 15 years, and because of this danish football map has been reduced to 15-20 chunks. I feel sorry for you.
Stade Nyonnaise is having money trouble. Do a google translate to read the article: http://www.tdg.ch/sports/football/endette-flou-stade-nyonnais-inquiete/story/18056607
Promotion League and 1st League Classic are starting next week. Xamax is the clear favorite to be promoted to the BCL. A few make-up matches from 1st League - Group 3 will be played. All are make-ups from the fall.
All the best to Xamax on the impending promotion coming to them. I support SRD once of the Axpo Super League back in the early 2000's. Our most famous recent player is Olivier Baudry who some of you may know for his time with Sochaux and one season with LS. He has fallen upon some hard times health wise. Mickael Rodriguez also played for us but is now scoring for Xamax. This is a shot in the dark but I will try anyway. I collect all things SRD be it shirts, flags, programmes...anything so if you have anything SRD please let me know.
Wow! A SR Delemont fan! Welcome to the board. Who was the keeper when they were in the LNA , Alain Portmain (sp?). Xamax is all but guaranteed promotion. It will be nice to have them back in the BCL. I am afraid that they will simply take the place of Servette though. Financial troubles et al. Le Mont did not get their license either, so who knows who will be in the Promotion League.
Thank you! Yes it was Alain Portmann in those heady days. I actually had his shirt from that time. I lost or misplaced it haven't seen it in 5 years. So is Xamax not in a more stable financial situation? The events that destroyed them I feel wouldn't be repeated but in Swiss football you never know I guess. We are in big trouble though 5 points from safety with 5 matches left. Financial troubles always lurking as well. A bright note has been that we are undefeated in 4. We had a great come back against Stade Nyonnais on the weekend 2-0 with 30 minutes left and we came back to win 3-2!
Sorry I was referring to Servette being relegated due to financial issues, not Xamax. Here's hoping that SR Delemont stays up! I have always like Canton Jura, a little more non-conformist than many of the other cantons.
I was just wondering if anyone knows how many people follow the Swiss game on these forums and how many are from Switzerland?
I am not from Switzerland, but lived there for a while and research it as well as visit as often as I can. Promotion League this weekend: Xamax can clinch a spot in the BCL with a win this week. Delemont and Locarno look destined to drop to the 1st League. 1st League Group 1 FC Stade Lausanne 40 Team Vaud U21 40 Bavois 37 FC Azzuri 90 37 Group 2 Kriens 51 Zug 47 Cham 47 Wangen 41 Group 3 FC Wettswil-Bonstetten 46 GCZ II 39 Mendrisio-Stabio 39 FC Gossau 34 Top 2 teams from each group will enter the playoffs, as well the next best 2 teams. I'm still hoping Delemont does something special and pulls out a miracle they have been on a bit of a run but the remaining 5 matches don't look easy. So I am curious what are your realistic thoughts regarding Servette's attainment of the license they need and what are the ramifications if they don't get it? I have a few friends that support Servette and I think they truly belong in the RSL based on history alone. I am partial to the French Swiss clubs like Servette, Xamax and Lausanne-Sport.
Being danish follows swiss football a bit, weve had so many players in the 80's and 90's in switzerland. Personally loves the new swiss football stadiums as they are so beautifull. Personally likes to follow Xamax because we played them (brondby) in the early 90's and watched the game in copenhagen.
Promotion League this past weekend: Xamax is one point from promotion. With 4 matches left, Locarno is 9 points adrift of Tuggen and Delemont is 7 behind. 1st League Group 1 FC Stade Lausanne 43 Team Vaud U21 40 FC Azzuri 90 40 Yverdon 38 Group 2 Kriens 54 Cham 50 Zug 47 Wangen 44 Group 3 FC Wettswil-Bonstetten 49 GCZ II 39 Mendrisio-Stabio 39 FC Gossau 37 Top 2 teams from each group will enter the playoffs, as well the next best 2 teams. Hopp Zug 94! Whenever I go to Switzerland for work, I work in Zug, so since that's my home away from home, I pull for them. Shame that there's a good chance they won't get promoted this year, but they did have a fine season. I'd love to see them get up to the Promotion League. Would be nice if they did it with Cham to keep that rivalry going.
