Looks better with the purple than the blue. Not bad, and better than the first one, but it still needs work.
Djorn Buchholz (who, coincidentally, replaced me in Indiana in 2000 when I left the Blast, thus starting his personal odyssey), is Louisville's newly-named president. He left Minnesota just over a year ago for KC, but this is a good gig for him. Guy can't leave the second division behind.
So Orlando released a ton of the USL Pro roster last week. Since Orlando owners have a ownership stake in Louisville and James O'Connor will be the new coach, I wonder how many ex-Orlando Lions will play under their old team mate? o.PositionPlayerNation 1GoalkeeperMiguel Gallardo Mexico 3DefenderBrad Rusin United States 7DefenderBryan Burke United States 9ForwardGiuseppe Gentile United States 11ForwardCorey Hertzog United States 13MidfielderAustin da Luz United States 15ForwardDennis Chin Jamaica 16MidfielderAodhan Quinn United States 19DefenderBitielo Jean Jacques Haiti 21GoalkeeperCarl Woszczynski United States 22DefenderRob Valentino United States 23DefenderJustin Clark United States 26GoalkeeperRafael Díaz United States
Gallardo, Rusin and Valentino are all pushing 30 (beginning of 2015 they will be 30, 28 and 29, respectively), and in recent USOC play Gallardo hasn't been too effective. As for Chin, do you have any idea how often he's called offsides?
Didn't realize how old those guys were getting, but if Rusin is 28, that's not that bad for a defender. Though Orlando does seem to be trying to build with youth. And I had noticed that Chin's goal scoring had dried up this year. Anyway, I really hope there's a Louisville City v Indy Eleven match up in the USOC this coming year. Never would have imagined something like that happening today when I still lived in the area
Well that's why they aren't moving up with Orlando to MLS. Just a FYI Gentile has already signed with Scorpions, Herzog with Rowdies and Da Luz has signed with Railhawks. Act fast!
It would be nice, though even if they were in the same league, they'd only play a couple times a year. Indianapolis and Louisville have been in AAA together for eons, obviously. The Colonels and Pacers had a nice rivalry in the ABA. There's a bit of enmity in basketball between the two states at the high school level.
It's a big leap, man. Even teams that have only moved up one level have had to ditch guys who had been effective players at that level.
I was just curious how big of a rivalry it would be , and of course there no chance of a yearly friendly being scheduled. It's not like the cross league rivalry (and literally across town) that we have here in OKC. Where the rivalry is dependent on survival although at this point I think the Energy FC has it in control. A lot of people here are looking forward to the usoc matchup that is sure to materialize provided that OKCFC even takes the field in 2015. I didn't mean to hijack the thread. I hope Louisville and Indy actually do match up in the USOC one thing's for sure with all the new teams in 2015 the cup is going to be interesting.
My only fear is that USSF will limit the number of teams that can qualify from USL Pro like they did with MLS until 2012, and like they still do with the PDL.
If they do, the logical way to limit it would be to not allow the pure MLS reserve sides in USL Pro like LA Galaxy II into the USOC. The rule would need to be nuanced enough to allow for a separate market / different ownership mix like Louisville to be in while LA II is out.
I just noticed they shined the logo up a little further. Changed the text font, and moved the gold color completely to old gold.
Much cleaner. The gradient in the letters rubs me the wrong for a reason I do not understand. Anyway, really looking forward to seeing what they do moving forward with the team. Hopefully the Dayton relocation is real, that would make for a nice rivalry, if a Cincinnati team is decently supported.
Some news from last week. They are moving the supporters section. And it sounds like to a bigger section with better sight lines. Also, away from a family section, which might be a good idea. http://www.courier-journal.com/stor...lle-city-fc-moves-supporter-seating/18601773/
Surprised we hadn't heard more about Orlando players who weren't signed to MLS coming to Louisville. Many of them have already signed with other teams.
There are certainly a number of options out there. Not really surprising that ( a ) other clubs would see the value in players who have demonstrated they can play at a high level and contribute to a winning organization in DIII or that ( b ) given options (as they're not bound to go to Louisville, which is only a spiritual descendent) players would make a variety of choices. So, no, not that surprising.
Considering that 1) there is a shared ownership and 2) the new coach was their teammate a few weeks ago I would say there was a pretty good chance that Louisville would get first dibs on those players. The only thing I could think of is the mothership wanted to cut permanent ties, they have some unknown agreement already in place or the players just hate Kentucky.
