im 14 years old and ive had a belly that extends out really far for the past 3-4 years. i thought by growing it would stretch it out but no dice. im around 5' 4" and 115 pounds, so im not overweight or anything and my arms are real skinny and my legs are fairly muscular so i dont see how this happens. i watch what i eat and barely ever eat any candy or fast food. ive been doing 100 or so situps a day the past 2 years and i can see the ab definition somewhat on my stomach and when i suck in it looks like a 6 pack, but i want to get rid of the huge belly. ive recently started lifting weights too. any suggestions? thanks
You have not gone through puberty. That's the problem. After puberty, I am 100 % sure it would be alright.
It's probably what he said. Losing a belly is very easy. All you have to do is run, lift a little bit, and not eat donuts and chocolate milk every meal. Do you run too?
i used to run but i lack the motivation to do it, but i still have soccer practice 2-3 times a week so thats a little running. the thing is tho, its not just a few jelly rolls, i look like im pregnant, especially after i eat even a little bit. its a huge beer belly but i dont drink beer. thanks for the tips tho!
One thing to try is to change the ab exercises you do. It isn't just strengthening them, but getting them to hold in your intestines. As you do sit-ups, make sure to suck in your gut on each rep. Don't go all the way up - just go up far enough to take your back off the floor. Also do sit-ups with your legs bent up (with your knees half way to your chest) or legs bent and flat out to either side to use all the muscles. Another exercises to do is to breath out all the way, and then hold in your stomach as hard as you can for 5-10 seconds. Do a couple reps every day.
do some back excercises, too. If you do 100 sit ups, you need to balance that with your back muscles. It could be your posture. At 115 lbs, you don't sound fat so I'd bet that's not the problem. You can always pich your gut to determine fat, but I was the same size when I was your age. Or you could be crazy. Don't worry so much.
Is it in any way bothering your soccer playing? If not, don't worry. Just practice with the ball every day, that'll give you enough exercise to keep your gut in. At 14, you definately shouldn't worry about weightlifting yet.
Hey use the extra weight why you can to bully opponents off the ball. knock them down and do a steamroller over them. All kidding aside, your 14 just play and have a good time.
