Hernan Losada is out as the coach of DC United after just 2 years. Chad Ashton is to take over on an interim basis.

How does Kasper keep his job? The choices of players especially DPs and TAM has been horrendous. Also the unwillingness of the front office to invest in players is a major contributing factor.

I can see going the homegrown route like Dallas but DC has not taken this seriously until apparently very recently and certainly not to the scale of a Philly or Dallas.

I'm sure we are looking to bring in Greg Berhalter as the new coach?????

One of the interesting coaching options I've heard is Hugo Perez, the current coach of El Salvador and a US National Team vet. He took a so so collection of talents and molded a team that punched above its level in qualifying.

Wow. I mean, what triggered this sudden firing? It's not like we're below expectations. Is it because we didn't start Taxi? Is is the lack of discipline shown by playing Losada instead of benching him after his two-yellow performance? Maybe playing the 17 year old and leaving the DP on the bench?

Or maybe he was in a meeting today, channeled his inner internet nut, and told Kasper how he really feels about his player acquisition skills, resulting in Kasper turning an interesting shade of red and canning his butt.

    Inquiring minds want to know!

Also, I'll coach for the rest of the year pro-rated at Losada's salary.

I'll do better than Ashton. I'll take a poll every week at BigSoccer to determine the lineup.

I think the dumbest take is that Arriola left because of Losada. Arriola left because we're decades from another MLS cup.

My understanding is Goff hypothesized in his Arriola article that: "Part of that desire [to leave DC United] might have been rooted in Losada’s system of play." Goff is, of course, a stooge.

The second dumbest thing to come out of this is the obnoxiously stupid argument of how "Olsen never lost the room." Yea, we didn't "lose the room" when we won the wooden spoon or missed the playoffs year after year or several playoff missing meltdowns? Get the ******** out of here.

Yea, Olsen lost the room multiple times, and the team lost it's ability to function as a professional organization almost completely on several occasions of his tenure. Right now we stink because we have a bunch of bums on the roster. Some of those bums are mad that they are being told they are bums and aren't fit enough to make up for their professional shortcomings. Some DC fans are turning on the rose colored glasses now to suggest this all makes sense and Olsen wasn't actually the worst coach the team has ever had. ******** that.

Olsen didn't think he was ready to be Asst. Coach when he was appointed. Very shortly thereafter he was elevated to Head Coach. He said he wasn't ready. He was correct. He learned on the job, but I don't think he was ever a "natural born" coach. Jesse Marsch, on the other hand, seems to have had an affinity for coaching from the very beginning.

Onalfo coached 20 games dude. It’s surreal that a million years after onalfo left we’re still talking about him like some boogie man.

Why did he only coach 20 games?

Not enough bite and fight I guess

The real answer is the club started to be cheap and dysfunctional around 2009 and Onalfo fit neatly into the transition period between when we won supporters shield and wooden spoons. Honestly onalfos record is as bad as Olsens but Olsen did it over a decade

It is early but Cherundolo seems to have the right nature to be a head coach. His instincts so far are on point. He was a cerebral player so that analytical ability helps.

I think I may have found the money quote in the latest Athletic article to explain the firing :)

    Jason seems exactly that petty.

I didn't notice the link to that article here, sorry if it's repeated

Fvck our owners. Losada may have been wrong with some training methods, etc., but he was spot on with this. They are worthless. And now we can bring in a REAL cancer like Gareth Bale. Did Lucy find Gareth in one of her spreadsheets?

In Jason Levien, it appears we have a Snyder 2.0 situation on our hands.
