Los Angeles - San Jose (Wednesday, 6/18) pregame thread       Will San Jose cleanse Anschutz's temple in an unholy land (seriously!) with righteous victory?       Will Los Angeles further besmirch The Toolbox in defeating the visitors, thus proving that the virtuous do not always win?       The Earthquakes taking the win despite no Landon and no non-high definition television coverage of any kind? The Galaxy stealing three points aqueduct-like in the strangely-scheduled midweek match?       Discuss.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
LA sucks.... Quakes will end the Fallacy's modest 2 game cheating..ahem...winning streak and take the full 3 points from the reigning chumps.... Waibel will knock Ruiz into next Saturday's match and Mullan will show Fat Sigi what he let go... Quakes 1 (Mullan 53) Smelllay 0
Los Angeles - San Jose (Wednesday, 6/18) pregame thread Sure would be nice to have the honor of giving them their first loss in "the Toolbox" (named such because opponents get screwed there.) I'm sure grateful we have radio coverage of road games this year. That's where I'll be Wednesday night. I think I'll turn on the outdoor speakers and turn it up real loud for the neighbors....you know, help them "think soccer."
As long as Salazar isn't ref we should be okay. No, I'm kidding (kind of), but we just need to keep up the confidence and hustle like we did tonight. It was a scrappy win, but a win nonetheless. It's a game I'm really looking forward to (although I won't see it!)
I see Cienfuegos got his second yellow moments after the final whistle for dissent. So he will not be available Wed. Without Cien and Elliot, LA looks to be pretty disorganized in the middle. I thought LA looked like crap until Cien starting get playing time again these past few weeks.
This will be the first Quakes game in a couple of years that I haven't either attended or seen on TV. Therefore, I can confidently predict an absolute blowout - Quakes 5 LA 1 (flopping fish in the box draws the obligatory PK)
Sure would be nice to have the honor of giving them their first loss in "the Toolbox" (named such because opponents get screwed there.) while in theory this sounds funny, reality (game vs wiz) proves that refs do not favor the g's at all, in any way shape or form. Good luck, it will definitely be an interesting match.
Awww. A very tempting offer. However, and there's always that however. I wanted to tape the game 'cause I work Wednesday night. Damn job! Maybe another time.
I can't believe this game is not on tv/shootout. What is up with the 'Quakes television package? This is a game against their archrivals!! It should be on tv!!! I'm sure the fact it's on a Wednesday has somethign to do with it but still I'm going to go pout too. What are the various Quakes' injury status?
Los Angeles - San Jose (Wednesday, 6/18) pregame thread Is it me or is cienfuegos old, small, and looks like he should have retired 50 years ago. How old is he?
Re: Los Angeles - San Jose (Wednesday, 6/18) pregame thread He's 35, and as due time says, LA is playing much better when Cienfuegos starts than when he was on the bench earlier in the season.
Re: Re: Los Angeles - San Jose (Wednesday, 6/18) pregame thread I have to agree here. I thought LA's early struggle had a lot to do with both Cien & Vagenas being out. They even had Hong playing sort of a playmaker role before Cien was available....
Hows Ching doing? I know he had that great stretch then got hurt with the Nats. Any clue how long it will be before he can link back up with Mullan?
they mentioned on the weekend broadcast that he had improved significantly but was probably still a week or two away. something like that anyway. i suspect he won't suit up v. l.a. what i'm really concerned about is how corrales' ankle is doing and whether ekelund is ready for a significant runout.
And how Mulrooney is doing, I believe this game will be won or lost in the mid-field, If our mid -field is relatively healthy and they are missing Cien I could see a 1-0 Quakes victory.
Talked to Richard 'bout this yesterday. He's ready and in good shape. I was concerned about his left shoulder but he said it's alright...nothing's seperated! Everything else is good. He's looking forward to playing in the new stadium, but says he's got some pay-back from last year to give! Dang, I hope the ref isn't reading this and I hope the cards stay in his pocket!!! I do believe the team is PUMPED up! GO QUAKES!!!!!!!!!
Los Angeles - San Jose (Wednesday, 6/18) pregame thread I hope, they won't ... ... and Ruiz will be ejected on the 5th minute if the game
Los Angeles - San Jose (Wednesday, 6/18) pregame thread From your lips to the soccer Gods' ears to the ref's hand!
Re: Los Angeles - San Jose (Wednesday, 6/18) pregame thread Actually Ruiz ought to be suspended before the start of the game for breaking Talley's face. He didn't get the well deserved red card because he was already carrying a yellow, perhaps? Salazar has just been a disaster. Here's hoping the disciplinary committee will do the right thing and do it before tomorrow night, although I'm not expecting either one given their piss poor track record. -KMJvet
