Will San José terrify the hosts into a Round One loss in this season's edition of the California Clásico?

Will Los Angeles horrify the visitors in front of the toolbox faithful?

The Earthquakes giving the hosts' winning hopes a cardiac arrest? The Galaxy shocking the visitors' system with a home triumph?

    Discuss.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Also, while both teams will only have had half a week's worth of rest, the Quakes will be the ones who'll also have to cross the state to get there.

They'll be missing Lopes (big centerback replacement for Gonzalez) and Keane. I really hope Stephenson doesn't start. He was the worst in the past two games.

    Always is with those clowns.
Well, they [result]just lost to a team we outshot 25 to 5[/result], so if we finish our damn chances I'd say we have a great shot to win.
I am so glad we don't have to wait a week for this game.
I'm visualizing Troy Dayak jumping over the sign boards.

I looked back at the wins prior to the Rafa MMA event. The commonalities (other than Chavez and Salinas on the wings) were:

1, Khari was on the bench all but sub minutes at the end of games after Quakes had several goal leads.

    2. Sam Cronin in Dmid and one of Moreno, Baca, or Dawkins in the attacking role.

Obviously the roster juggling in the midfield that directly resulted from the Rafa incident has put Yallop in a quandary trying to find the right combination.

I agree that both Baca and Dawkins are better centrally. Unfortunately, some body has to play on the wings. Without Chavez and Salinas the Quakes play is too predictable and easier to defend. If I was coach, I'd try to recreate that as best I can by starting Garza on one side and Dawkins on the other. At A-mid I'd play Baca or Morena, probably starting Baca since he covers so much more ground.

And I'd leave Khari on the bench.

So we got no wondo they got no Landon. Hopefully we start the Turk instead of just throwing Khari up top which is getting rediculous. Why even buy him if u don't give him a proper run out?

Maybe having Wondo out will be a good thing for this team. He's in a slump and we have other forward options. Sercan has looked good in his very limited minutes so far.

Yes, please no Khari a forward. Sercan is an interesting idea because he is a little different from the other 3. He is more of a quick / slashing / score with the feet guy. It would give the team a little different look.

Wonder if Frank would ever play a twin towers kind of thing - Lennie and Gordon? That would be kinda fun to watch - I think.

Maybe the most likely option is Dawkins at forward, and I guess Garza on the left?

LA's new starting central defender - Lopes - got a red card for a hand ball to save a goal versus the Goats. He's out, meaning LA's defense will be even that much more toothless.

The only thing that worries me are LA's playmakers are capable of scoring from virtually antywhere on the field.

    lenhart - dawkins
    morrow - moreno-cronin-garza
    corrales - ike - hernandez - beita
    busch

on the bench: gordon, sercan, pizarro, baca, khari, ring, bingham,

morrow & garza will bring the pace back to the wings we have been missing. sub in gordon for lenhart, sercan for dawkins and baca for moreno.

    why not!

I like it! Though I'd probably want to start with Baca in place of Moreno to get more range. This lineup would be able to press down the wings more, so I think you can afford to be a bit more conservative with a little more defense in the middle.

No way will Frank put Morrow at left mid. I really can't see the defense changing for this game, even though personally I would rather see Ike in the middle and Justin at LB. I also don't think Frank is ready to start Garza at this point, though I agree with those who say Baca has been less then stellar as a right midfielder.
We were rampant the first 30 minutes against the Columbus, but, then lost our way a bit. Likely, the only change we will see is Sercan for Wondo. He was brought here as a back-up for Wondo and it is his time to shine. I doubt Frank would pair Lenny and Gordon unless his idea is to bludgeon the LA defense into submission.
Yes, having Khari out there is frustrating, but, I think Frank likes him because adds a bit of size to our small-ish roster, now, if he could only play like a big man.

    What we will probably see.
    Sercan-Lenhart
    Dawkins- Khari-Cronin-Baca
    Corrales-Morrow, Hernandez, Beita

The three subs used against C-Bus, Moreno, Garza, and Gordon, worked well.

What I would like to see.

    Sercan-Lenhart
    Dawkins-Moreno-Cronin-Garza
    Morrow-Ike-Jason-Beita

Try to score early and often and then sub in:

Gordon for Lenhart, Khari for Moreno, Baca for Garza to wrap things up.

Agreed, and it would confuse the shit out of the filth because they haven't seen him play and they won't know what to expect from him. No Wondo=Start Sercan

    And no fecking Stephenson!

*sigh* You're probably right, Frank plays his favorites no matter how detrimental they are to the team. :(

Playing Baca out of position doesn't work, period! Either Frank is too stubborn to see it or he's fixated on playing Stephenson.
And Dawkins damn well better step up his game Wednesday, his last two outings have been sub-par at best.

I agree that Baca doesn't shine on the right, but, is Frank read to give the rookie a start?
