All this name calling and not once did you mention why they would follow LAFC? Come on now. Don't forget the straight edge punk rocker tattoo people. I can go to Carson and find the same people.
I have to say, based on this description, I already hate their fanbase. Basically, if you are a giant douchey tool, LAFC is the team for you.
Indeed, but it really doesn't matter if you are not selling out games when your local television deal is worth $55 million over ten years.
Also a hotel and student housing planned for the land across the street from the stadium. That area south of Expo will be unrecognizable compared to what it looks like today. http://urbanize.la/post/renderings-revealed-mixed-use-complex-exposition-park
I mentioned 'hardcore football fans' as well.. Those are real authentic fans of the sport. I basically named everything under the sun.. which this team should attract especially off the location alone. What's the problem? The Galaxy are hell of a club but they are tucked into the backwoods of Carson on a school campus.. I know people who won't even wear their jersey because of the Herbalife sponsor.
Lol. Backwoods? Carson is a 30 minute drive or less from 3 of the 5 most populous cities in Southern California. Not to mention the South Bay communities. The two teams might attract a different demographic. But to call the Stub hub location 'backwoods' is insanely ignorant. The backwoods wood be Norco. You can have your hipster celeb stalking douchebags. Quite frankly, I'd want a fan base more interested in the game than a fan base more interested in taking selfies and hunting for celebrities.
Hmm Your mickey mouse name club was created by Nike after the stars of Hollywood. Look at your fan lol
1) Its not my team or my fans. Just commenting on the insanely stupid notion that Carson is somehow the "backwoods" of southern California 2) Just because the Galaxy kept the ridiculous team name that was created in year 1 doesn't mean their fans are all a bunch of stargazing posers. Which apparently is seen as a selling point for LAFC. LA Galaxy have turned a Nike naming disaster into a respected and known brand around the world. So... To advertise LAFC's fan base as hipsters and celebrity enthusiasts would make me rather shoot myself in the face than sit in the stands with those people. Literally the two most annoying subsets of people on planet earth. And CakeYear was bragging about them being the heart of LAFCs fan base. Also, that video is stupid. It implies that if Americans don't follow the EPL, then they are somehow a lesser class of soccer fan that deserves to be made fun of.
A name with history and hardware. Seems like a fair trade. Better than the cornucopia of cookie-cutter "[City] FC" names that have flooded US/Canada lately. And definitely better than the nickname chosen by the FO. So Authentic™! So Organic™!
NYCFC gave some people an excuse to become MLS fans - or at least engage with MLS without having to take back years of snark, dismissals and/or disinterest. LA FC will do the same. It's like when some critics miss how good a movie was and then heap praise on the sequel as they pretend it some how corrected imagined flaws. Whatever. I'm not too worried about purity so long as they show up
Well, I was operating under the assumption that a team that is the winningest team in US soccer history doesn't have much to worry about from a team who's claim to fame is playing in a U-12 tourney and having a cool stadium. I could be wrong.
On behalf of the fans of The Original FC in MLS, we're sorry. And as someone with absolutely no skin in the game, let me just say that what the LAFC fans are saying sounds familiar, though it did have a different accent when it came tumbling out of the Chivas fans' mouths 12 years ago.
