Luchi could lose every game between now and our last game of the season on Oct 19th...and he probably still has his job.

Fisher doesn't want to pay out the balance of his contract.

And if anyone does take over, they will likely be labeled "interim"...it's unlikely that they can do much better, so, at the end of the season, whoever that brave soul was who stepped in becomes the latest coaching scapegoat in SJ, and who wants dubious distinction? Then the coaching search begins. rinse. repeat.

That's assuming we still have a team in SJ for 2025 which is becoming increasingly unlikely.

3k in attendance for Wed? That's as bad as I've ever heard, going all the way back to the earliest days of MLS.

That's my un-official estimate of the crowd size. I've seen smaller crowds for regular season matches at Spartan in the pre-Fisher era. Cannot think of a smaller crowd at PayPal, offhand, though.

Smallest spartan crowd for a home game is just shy 6k.

It was a wednsday night game in 2000.

    We had some real bad ones in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2005.

Wednesday games were always tough, but even at Spartan the lowest numbers hovered around 7k. Of course that was the official number, which is always artificially inflated. Nonetheless it's a sad situation. Fisher complains that he can't build a better team in SJ because his stadium is too small, he should try packing the house for a while, at least see if that helps. We haven't had a sellout at PPP since your guy Gareth came to town. :) A good crowd is about 50% capacity.

Play the marquee games at home, put together an exciting team, get out of the damn basement and in the game...PPP is way past due for its first ever playoff game. Work on putting together an on-the-field product that will excite the Bay Area soccer loving community. All the other stuff is pointless fluff.

Trouble is you cannot go by reported crowd sizes, which involve tickets distributed.

    This is true.

With that said in 1999 vs Colorado a 4-3 win there was no more then 3500k people. At one point in the match they move everyone on the east side stands into the middle 3 on the east.

Whoever I was sitting next too told me, Id be lucky if i got to see this team last another 10 years. I wasnt lucky. Lol

We get an Irishman calling the game, maybe he won't suck as most of our commentators do.

it's always bullshit. they're adding in all the tickets they give away, etc.

everything comes down to building a team that people want to watch. Bay Area fans have had to be very patient - anyone here who knows anything about soccer knows what a crap team the Earthquakes have been since 2008.
this season is just the cherry on the shit sundae.

People are fed up and rightly so, we had maybe 7K people for that match, tops.

Don was there, he said it looked more like 3k.

And yes, it's amazing anyone still goes at all.

John Fisher has been a disaster for soccer in San Jose.

Interestingly, Costigan and Edu also called the last game the two teams met (an Earthquakes 2-1 win in Levi’s Stadium last month).

Perhaps they’ll be a good-luck charm for us again? :)

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Best thing about that post is that Hernán is boarding the plane with no accoutrements on his legs. He was down on the field in apparent pain at the end of last game. I thought a bad injury to Hernán would be the ultimate cherry on top of our sad sack season sunday. Maybe he was just cramping?

And if Hernán is indeed fully healthy (God willing), it’ll be interesting to see his first start against LAFC (he was brought in about halfway through in the last meeting).

Quakes are currently on a six game winless streak (a full third of their 18-game season to date), disregarding the Open Cup meltdown in Sacramento. Only a single point earned (a draw against Austin) in well over a month. They haven’t won since the fiasco in Portland and may not again this season.

I estimated about 5k. Still abysmal, though.
