Since all of you will be hearing plenty about the Angels in October ive decided to drop all the team info including offseason moves and yes about the name.

    Let start with the name

Led by one of the best owners in Pro Sports, Artie Moreno is starting an empire. I know many people find the of Anaheim behind Angels really awkard and dumb. It will only be temporary for another 2 years ( contract with City of Anaheim). Artie did it for some of the most obvious reasons that are basically MONEY.

    1. We draw basically the same ammount of fans as the Dodgers do now with a stadium that holds -10,000 less than Dodger stadium. Infact Angels have sold more season tickets and packages this year than the Dodgers.
    2. Ratings between Dodgers and Angels are almost identical (same market)
    3. Brewers,Pirates,Devil Rays have better TV Revenue Deals than the Angels.

Before Angel Payroll was about 50-60 million when owned by Disney. We actually won the WS with that payroll but it was all Bill Stoneman whom assembled a sick ass farm system.
Under Artie Moreno payroll is at 90-100million. Changing the name to Los Angeles Angels was basically set in motion the minute Artie became owner. Which is why he made the move to go after guys like Guerrero and Colon by putting his own money on the line (investment).
Angels are in a big market therefore he wants the team to resemble a big market team not a small market Brewer team. With Anaheim infront it really handicaped the team when it came to getting revenue and deals.Having Los Angeles has already landed the Angels twice more sponsors than last year and currently Artie is working on a better TV deal. Offcourse with the money flow shifting a bit it means only one team must be losing money. Dodgers. Offcourse Frank Mcbankrupt has found temporary solutions by completely plastering ADS all over Chavez Revine.

    Offseason Moves and New Faces

    -Glaus FA to DBacks
    -Eckstein Released to Cards
    -Percival FA to Tigers
-Guillen Traded to Nats for Izturis & Rivera
    -Ortiz Traded to Reds

    +Finley FA DBacks/Dodgers
    +Byrd FA Braves
    +OCab FA RedSox
    +Mcpherson Farm System

Losing Glaus is a huge blow, well not really. When HEALTHY the guys is a beast. Problem is the last two years he has been on the IL way too much. Either give a injured prone guy with very suspect defense at 3B 10+mil a year or move up the #1 Overall Prospect who hammered over 40hrs at AAA but does strike out alot. Easy move.

Guillen had a bad temper but Finley should easily fill in his void.

Eck was a popular guy, but his arm range was really bad at SS. OCab is a HUGE upgrade.

Byrd is an enigma, not a guy that will blow you away with fastballs. Just more of a finest guy.

    AL West

Even though Texas has that offense their pitching is suspect.
Marines landed Beltre from the Dodgers but their pitching also suspect.
A's basically revamped their SP and continue their BillyBean experiment.

We should take this division easily unless we got guys dropping on the DL like last year when we gave the A's and Rangers a chance.

I'll merge these tomorrow. Granted there hasn't been a post in that thread in forever, it's still technically the 'official' thread for the Angels.

As an aside, the picture of Cabrera saluting the Fenway crowd at his first at-bat back in Boston has been my desktop since I returned home from that game. Absolutely the greatest thing I've ever seen in that ballpark, including two walk-off wins.

I confess that I get on the bandwagon when the Angels make the playoffs.

What a pitching duel last night. Only that little margin where we got the home run & hits were we able to pull it off.

Yeah, that's a real c0ckpunch way to lose. And I'm a neutral fan, so that kind of sucked from my point of view as well.

Scioscia will be interesting in the postgame interview...

Scioscia was pure class in the post game interview.

I wouldn't have been half the gentleman he was.

    ___________

Who's the biggest cvnt in the world right now...

    Doug Eddings - MLB Umpire

I am frigging livid right now!

Scioscia was class but you could still tell he was angry. Good maneveur to divert his analysis that the players should have done better so that he doesn't sound too bitter about the call.

I'm with you in that lividness though. You can see from the replay that the ball never hit the ground. Granted Doug Eddings may not have seen it, but then why call the strike & out? He left me more confused on his explanation at the press conference.

EDIT: Josh Paul probably should have tagged him just in case. Argh!

Well I've slept it off... BUT I'M STILL FVCKING LIVID! If Angel Stadium doesn't give that royal cvnt Eddings a "proper" welcome to OC, I will be shocked. I'm certainly taking earplugs tomorrow, that's for sure.

Well, we couldn't produce the hits. Frankly, after Saturday night, we were done. Perhaps next year.

I certainly hope not. I don't want to see him in anything but a Sox one.

Doesn't mean I'll get my wish, though.

Honestly I am torn, if the deal is good, fine. I have never like prima donna players, and guys who express wishes to be else where, or guys not willing to work ont heir weaknesses. "Manny being Manny" is no excuse in my book.

But what if by dealing Manny it leaves a huge void in your lineup. You all ready may lose Damon as a leadoff hitter but what if you lose your cleanup hitter also and have no protection for Ortiz

    Hence why I said:

That said, we didnt get knocked outof the playoffs because of our offense last season, pitching and defensive needs, have to be looked at. The Whitesox won it all without an Ortiz and Manny in the middle. A lot of great hitters have to get it done without a Manny Ramirez hitting behind them, so no matter who we get(rumors: Glaus, Floyd, Beltran, Sexson, whatever....) we have that bat, Nixon, and variteck behind him as of now.
