Duh. Flo is day to day active with the squad unlike billionaire foriegn owners who write the cheque. He's had tough negotiations and face to face tense moments (locker room exchanges with Ron, Ramos etc were already public, also the spat with Ozil's dad) with many of these players. You act like these players won't went out in private against the president in a relationship like that. Players aren't hypocrites no matter how you try to spin this.
I mean, we just read what Mou said to Ozil. That's just a sample. SAF has said way worse stuff. There might be a few coaches like ZZ who can keep their composure at all times when dealing with a squad on day to day basis. Look at the presidents of the clubs that are active day to day, attending every match be it Barcelona, Atlético, Bayern, Napoli etc. Many of them say worse thing in public and doesn't play good cop.
But we have clowns here acting like some petty gossip is more serious than someone recording without consent and blackmailing. Then leaking it to whoever paid the most to "destroy image". Players wouldn't mind that if someone does that to them right?
I've heard a president of, tell members of his club at a dinner, that a player is gay, a player married with children. You know or have heard of both the player and the president. You live in a fantasy world. Here's one that is public: Hoeneß talking shit about Effenberg's wife, formerly Strunz's wife (Effenberg's team mate) telling private stories that happened between the players and the woman. Correct, the reason why the people in charge of those clubs (like say a Woodward was) wouln't have the voice to speak like this is because they are employees, they are working a desk job there. The big heads in European football all talk crazy shit behind them scenes.
My brother gossiped with Mario Basler during a cigarette break, dude brought up more private shit about former players than anybody could ever imagine, and that was one cigarette break during a tv show. You can stay in your sheltered life where everybody has tea and their little biscuit and talk like lords in west lancaster or whatever the hell.
What you're doing is called appeal to popularity logical fallacy. Just because it's a popular thing to diss people working under you for a president, doesn't make it right, however you try to twist it. His social image has suffered quite a lot of trauma. First the ESL and now these leaks. Not good in long run.
It's easy to mock Florentino Perez, but if a few gentle insults and some tittle-tattle are the best these supposedly scandalous secret recordings can offer, isn't it all rather tame? Hardly revolutionary stuff.— Andy West (@andywest01) July 16, 2021
You understand that two former Barca presidents and a former Sevilla president have served time behind bars right? The president of one of the biggest clubs in Europe did time. In your world, Florentino's image might be tarnished, but in the football world, his image is still pretty much one of the cleanest there is.
And Calderon had to resign after getting caught rigging RM General Assembly with Atlético fans. He'd be in jail had the club pursued the case.
Clearly Florentino doesn't know how to conduct himself, should learn from gentlemen like Ryan Giggs, great bloke and a real family fella as they say in Britain. Let's be honest, if we'd know everything the players do or say we'd hate most of them.
I think it's great, because he's absolutely spot-on in everything he says. If anything, he's gone up in my estimation.— Phil Ball (@PhilBallTweets) July 18, 2021
Hypocrite. That Laporta video...appears it was a joke, which the 'girl' found funny and inoffensive. But it's the kind of thing that should not be joked about in 2021. The main doubt around Laporta is that he's yesterday's man, a dinosaur. This kind of thing doesn't help, even if harmless.— Andy West (@andywest01) March 7, 2021
You're mad that people aren't dunking on the club president, while you're giving motherly love to Real Madrid's own mukbang star.
The whole controversy about Laporta's "joke" was because he was alluding to flirt with an underage girl. Imagine someone being so obtuse to compare that with Florentino's illegally recorded tapes which has nothing but petty gossip and some venting out. Joan Laporta stirred controversy on Sunday evening, appearing in a video that went viral on social media where he appeared to ask an underage girl to call him when she turns 18. https://www.football-espana.net/202...stirs-controversy-with-comments-in-viral-clip
Lol, Florentino Perez is becoming a cult legend and we have a handful still clutching pearls. Respect for the man and his big personality (and balls? Skyrocketing. If this man signs Mbappe this summer and we get Camavinga free next summer, while selling Varane for big and completing the best club stadium in the world?
Oh c'mon on man. It might have helped make the decision easier but the more accepted and logical explanations were that he was sold to offset the cost of the Bale transfer, he would lose his place in the starting lineup in the new 4-3-3 system and a good offer came in from a club the player would accept a move to. There were much better reasons than "omg look a professional athlete who enjoys sex with models this is absolutely unheard of we have to do something drastic ASAP." Yeah hard to believe there are people trying to normalize this type of behavior, it's OK to call out bad behavior and move on (that's normal) but when you make excuses for this stuff in order to dismiss it you're practically inviting this type of thing to come back and bite you at a less opportune time. The thing with the Spanish players and captains is completely understandable when you take off the blinders. Club had a good thing going and a championship winning recipe but Flo decided to play chef and cook something up on his own with different ingredients that didn't turn out nearly as good as advertised. Anybody would be pissed to see a chance to set unbreakable career and CL records squandered because the president is obsessed with chasing commercial success and essentially sabatoged his own teams succes by falling for EPL marketing hype and over paying for inferior talent that ultimately made the team worse.
There is nothing normal about it because no one gets recorded saying those things and have those recordings leaked to the media. I'm sure the players have shared similar opinions on him in private which were not leaked.
Listen to the entire bit. It's clear what Florentino is saying. Özil arrived at the club as a very down to earth family guy, hard working, brought his girlfriend along, and in Madrid he completely forgot about all of that, told his girl to eff herself and became a star. Players all deal with success, fame, pressure, misfortune differently.
He's chatting shit about others as if he never fcuked up a single thing in his career as a president. Needs a bit of introspection.
