🗣️ Rafael Nadal on the Real Madrid elections: “I didn’t vote. Both ran good campaigns, and in the end, this is democracy and the winner is the winner. In my opinion, Florentino Perez is the BEST president in Real Madrid history. I think his mission wasn’t over yet.” pic.twitter.com/CRdMJmBABh— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) June 10, 2026
Feel like somebody like him can take one look at how these elections usually run and say "this is not for me".
After the way these elections were conducted, a personality like Rafa will stay well away from running.
And if everyone had that attitude around the elections, might aswell shut the club down because nobody would run for it
I just can't see anybody that's as low key as Nadal is play a cartoon character the way the current candidates did.
Nadal can run a dignified campaign and stand out that way amidst the circus as well. I feel he will run after Florentino retires.
It all depends if he comes up with a serious project instead of clowning around saying we've signed X player and Y player or we'll be offering this much for Z player. Anyone who comes with a serious sporting project will be taken serious. Perez is pretty much the exception at this point because he's been in the seat for what, 20 years.
People expecting a candidate to be a nice guy, run a clean campaign and not promise big signings (when this is the most legendary tradition of Madrid elections) clearly dont understand how this dynamic works
This is him already practically campaigning. Very strategically did not vote to create distance between himself and Florentino so that he can wash his hands and pick up where Riquelme left off - “the old man did great work for the club but by it’s clear to see he should be allowed out of the house alone let alone left alone in charge of a organization this valuable.

Hoy es uno de los días más negros de la Historia reciente del Real Madrid:- Renuevas 6 años al mayor imbécil que ha vestido la camiseta blanca con unos términos que ni a Cristiano se le dieron viniendo de dos temporadas con peores números que Jeremy Pino.- Pagas 140M€ por… pic.twitter.com/Og5UvsEflr— Don Shelby (@DonShelby_) August 6, 2026 Whoever cannot see el presi is on a serious downward spiral is deluded I must say.
How bad you think it is, it’s still infinitely better than having Riquelme as president right now. In 4 years, who knows, but not right now.
Riquelme was a weak contestant who ran a messy campaign. Fact that he got 35% votes shows Flo could have even lost if the opponent was better. I think the main reason was his attempt to sell minority shares.
Florentino made good on every promise so far except the one to sell a part of the club. He signed a 150 mil. star player. He brought back Mourinho.
Yes that winning that famously drops out of the sky regardless of what you actually do because youre Real Madrid.
Well yeah it may seem that way because you always are saying the club is doing the wrong thing and should do what you say. Said the same before Jude came in and you disappeared as we won the CL and La Liga.
Florentino should sell a part of his own business if he can't pay the bills. As expected, he's getting crushed today. I have no idea how a club can surrender itself to an agent like that. One of the most fascinating deals I've seen is that Roc negotiated an automatic extention for Endrick in 2027 which automatically increases his wages for the next 3 years of his deal, regardless of whether he plays or not.
Remember though how he trolled Barcelona by offering 150 million for Alvarez? Best move of the summer
