This entire process of RM president ejections is not fitting of a club like RM. it’s embarrassing actually the e tire process needs to be scrapped, a proper independent board appointed who then selects a president.
What does that do for anybody? Eventually you're going to elect people that dislike each other in positions that have them cooperate but will eventually see them act against each other to take them out.
It's called checks and balances. It's why corporations have them. Otherwise, why have a board? Just elect a president and he assigns his cabinet.
I mean, do you vote every minister individually when you vote in general elections? You vote for a candidate and his party.
Different systems of governing. If you are talking about a presidential governement system, we mostly have 3 co-equal branches of government for that. For corporations, we have a chariman and his board to check the president. At Madrid, the socios don't really control anything other than electing the president. After that, the presi is basically a dictator because the board are his mates.
The board are club members themselves, so everybody by logical understanding should want what's good for the club. For example, assuming Riquelme becomes the vice president, what does that do for anybody?
So the plan is to vote in no men? Imagine how long elections will take if socios vote for 15 different people.
That's not the gotcha moment that you think it is. Again, the board is supposed to be the check and balance of the president. They are not supposed to be his homeboys.
The board is supposed to be a team and each individual has his own purpose very similar to a government setting a general idea of who gets what minister spot in case they get elected. I know you have never looked at the posts these individuals hold within the club which is why i understand that you're making it up to be a the Jedi counsil of sorts.
Eh no. Boards aren't supposed to work that way. In Madrid it's @$$ backwards. Real Madrid is closer to a corporation than it is a government.
The board consists of different individuals having different purpose. The organizational structure of the club is over 50 people. You expect for all those to be elected? Let's say you elect a president that believes in homegrown talent then vote for three board members that think grassroots development is a waste of time. How does that help your purpose? If you don't trust the guy you vote to lead the club, why did you vote for him?
Now even the dumbest fans should have realized that Perez does not care about anything but himself. He started acting only when felt the danger for his spot. If Riquelme was not running and there were not elections, Perez would not be signing neither Konate, nor Dumfries. The club rejected Konate 6 months ago Perez is in panic mode now. Signing Mourinho in 2026 and 'making an offer for a star player' are his campaign highlights. Laughable Its clear as day what will happen. Perez wins on sunday, send offer for Neves or Vitinha, receives 'No, thank you', then Mendes make him sign some other midfielder represented by him, probably Matheus Fernandes who is currently playing for Championship side.
This is the reality for a club without the financial backing of an investment fund. This is what's going to happen with any president moving forward.
And still you could be managing the club way better, if your priorities are the sporting results and not being the president for the sake of it.
The team ran over Manchester City and crushed them. A club who has the arguably best club coach in history and has spent an endless amount of money. I'm not a fan of Perez, but life could be so much worse, in a way people deserve a few years of misery to come back to reality. Of all the ways the club could be managed better, the team is probably 5% of it.
What are you talking about? Real Madrid only has 18 board members. I don't think you know how a board works. The board doesn't meddle in the day to day operations. They are there to oversee the president and make sure the values, interest and safety of the club are maintained. They can also remove a sitting president if there is abuse and mishandling.
The organizational structure still has a compliance board, a transparency board and all the staff needed for due process. I think you're being completely delusional if you think a process to elect 20 people is viable especially given that elections for an entire country aren't voted individually but in the same way. You vote for a leadership candidate. If you want to vote for "somebody to keep an eye on him" then clearly he doesn't have your trust.
What you aren't understanding is how a board is supposed to function. You might as well call them cabinet secretaries at that point. You are conflating the entire board for other positions. 18 is doable. There are national elections who vote a lot more than that. Just because you aren't used to it, doesn't mean it's not viable. They could even decide to reduce the number of board seats if they think it's warranted. What the club has now is a paper democracy. In truth, it's a benevolent dictatorship.
Its always like that. Unfortunately you have to completely change the organizational model to prevent that, but then you open a can of worms. Also nobody wants to do that because its simply too much work, not a lot of benefits and inefficiency can creep in.
In the U.K. a board has both executive and non-executive directors. The executive directors (CEO, CFO, COO etc) are very much involved in day to day operations. It’s the NEDs that deal with the values and accountability stuff. And the NEDS are usually a small percentage of a board.
If the election cycle, from the first notice there will be an election until the vote, is only 2 weeks - THEN YES absolutely voters should not fully trust either the process or the candidates even the winner and especially the winner if it was their idea to have theses Mickey Mouse elections for a Disney sized empire.
We could also argue a lack if control and accountability with the present model. Hence Perez can basically do whatever he wants with little pushback. It's a double edged sword.
