Corporate model: “With me, Real Madrid will always belong to its members. No one doubts that I have dedicated myself since 2000 to ensuring Real Madrid has a sufficiently solid financial position so that this risk never exists. Now, what do I want to do? Forbes says that Real Madrid is worth 10 billion, although I believe it's worth more, and my proposal is that this wealth goes directly to the members. Ultimately, I want the members to own this financial wealth. Right now, we only own a sentimental wealth, and I want the connection of Real Madrid members to be strengthened and to extend beyond their death. That is to say, I want this financial wealth to be inherited by their children or their families.”

The method for implementing this model: “We will study the method, debate it, and it will be voted on in a referendum by all members. This can be voted on because I was the one who included it in the statutes. I want to move beyond the romantic notion of being a Real Madrid member and make it something tangible and real. Furthermore, it's also a way to protect the club in the future from situations like the amendments to the Sports Law that Tebas tried to impose. LaLiga submitted amendments, through a lobby called Acento, to members of parliament from the PSOE and the PP. I was alerted to this move, and thanks to that, I managed to prevent the Sports Law from stripping Real Madrid members of their assets. If I hadn't found out, LaLiga would have achieved its goal. Then the members would no longer be the complete owners of the club. Since then, I've been so concerned that I've fought every day to save Real Madrid. That's why I want the assets to truly pass to the members. Their rightful owners.”

It’s complete BS by Florentino to say he wants to sell to establish a valuation. He must think everyone is stupid.

Why would he need to establish a valuation in this first place? To correct Forbes because his feelings got hurt with their own valuation? Please.

Listen, I'm not against the idea, but isn't the entire basis for a socio membership becoming "generational wealth" based on the concept that it turns into a share and thus implies it can be sold?

I think Florentino doesn't want RM to take another huge loan to fund Madrid Innovation District project. He wants to fund it using the sale of 5-10% stake. But he isn't being honest about it and BS'ing about wanting to find real value of the club. He's treating socios like they are sheep who will buy such dumb explanations.

Agreed. I guess we’ll also see Sunday, I think if Florentino wins by a wide margin he’ll have the confidence to present this. But if it’s a smaller than expected margin he will get the hint. This election is more a referendum on the privatization than anything else.

    Today it's 5%, tomorrow it's 10%, 15% the next, and so on.

I do not know why people think that it may be stupid; it is because they have not yet come across such a situation. Many people generally go to the market, not necessarily for money, which they can manage through other means, but to understand the true market potential of their business idea. This makes things much simpler, as the established market value helps others think clearly, such as when accessing market borrowing and renegotiating your bank loans.

This thing with monetizing the memberships and turning them into generational wealth etc sounds absolutely moronic to me. I really hope the socios see through the BS and give Perez a bloody nose in the elections.

The whole ‘we need to sell 5%’ in the same week as announcing record revenues as the highest earning club in the world also rubs me the wrong way. Become better at operating the club and improve your margins. Once you sell 5% you will never get it back.

Exactly. As soon as you have SAD, there is nothing to prevent the socios from selling their shares..

True, but some people are pushing obviously false information here. I wonder what their motive is...

A valuation helps with loans, the value of the security pledged matters a lot.

You don't have to sell 5% of the club to get a valuation!

€8b was Perez's aspiration 3-4 years ago IIRC.

When has a lender ever accepted the borrower’s valuation as part of the loan process? They always get their own valuation.

They will also take the security over the assets of the club (stadium, rights contracts etc) rather than against shares owned by members of the public. And even if the shares are issued and traded, are they going to have to sell them all again every time he needs to revalue? Or will he have to rely on established accounting principles to arrive at a valuation in the future, like they are doing nowadays?

It’s a terrible explanation by Flo.

Valuation can be done without going to market, but it is always wrong since it just lists out individual assets of the club but never arrives at the value of the club as a whole (as a single cash-generating unit), and for this it is always preferable to have it listed on any stock market where it is now market driven. and demand and supply of stock determine its value

I don't see this as anything other than a move to change the power structure of the club. Seeing the circus show that the current process of finding a club president has become, maybe that is not as bad as one would think it would be.
