Nice photos, not sure what they have to do with Florentino. So back to Florentino. Its your standard Daenerys Targaryen storyline. Consumed by his own greatness. You make a few terrible moves due to overconfidence and suddenly you find yourself losing the plot. Those moves for him were the super league, the Mbappe chase and acquisition and the Xabi affair where he let Vinicius and Valverde run him out of town. The man is not well in his head. This team is absolutely awful and hes the culprit behind it. People like 4x4s say we kept quiet when we were winning but thats not exactly true. I said many times the last CL titles were flukey and covering up for bad squad building. Florentino may still be a megalomaniac, but he lost the genius that came with it. It got replaced by delusion, complacency and rancor. Desperately needs to retire before he ruins his entire legacy.
Honestly, I would rather have a President who cares too much and get passionate than the opposite. This means some heads will roll in the summer. I wish Dean Huijsen and Camavinga could fck off. I hope Carvajal and Rudiger aren't renewed.
During that wave of interviews he actually admitted he doesn't have a word in selecting the players/doesn't know anything about them beforehand. His influence on the on field product is relatively limited, but he now of course gets the response he earned from pretending to have his fingers in every single dish in the kitchen.
True. But we also gotta admit was the hand that landed Mbappe. Arguably the most signicant "straw that broke the camel's back" so to speak.
It's the same process that brought Ronaldo, Bale, Kaka etc. The club saw a window of opportunity for a star name and went for it. Which is why i'm absolutely sure that they'll sign Rodri this summer. Final contract year, his agent is from Madrid and has connections to current and former Real Madrid players. If you follow the trail you see the direction. I find it funny that we call it good process when it leads to trophies and "nah this man has to go" when it doesn't.
It was also the same process that brought in Bekham when Figo was playing at the RM position. It only makes sense when sporting needs are factored in.
Maybe, but it's been this way forever. That's my point. Florentino made a move on Lewandowski and now we pretend that we believed so much in Benzema. He would also try to get Buffon even though Iker was considered a hero by most.
Which probably points to recruitment getting lucky at times by missing targets rather than getting it right which is concerning.
Bayern would have signed Woltemade for almost 80 million bucks if Newcastle wouldn't have stopped them from doing so by spending more. Wirtz for incredible amounts instead of Diaz who worked out great for them. 8 months later "they are so smart and so well run!" If we're honest the amount of failing into success that's going on in football is absurd.
The guy that's supposed to challenge him (he has about a week to put together a campaign, unlikely) is getting crushed on social media. People are calling him a charlatan and an attention seeker. To be honest, i'm surprised that he came out of nowhere, even the stooges that challenge Laporta do so with a long runway of being pests to him, and also surprised that Perez made the choice of calling him out before he even said anything.
I am meaning this Enrique guy. This other guy that came out of nowhere is just getting his free publicity
Yeah, i just can't see it. Realistically you need a runway of about a year to sort of go from fangroup to fangroup, put together a team, a presence, something you stand for etc. He recently said something along the lines of "if there is time to put together something then i will challenge" and the comments were crushing him like, how are you this unprepared if you're interested in the job?
The most annoying one that gets repeated to this day is that Ronaldinho was "too ugly" and that's why we signed Beckham. Beckham recently confirmed in an interview that Barcelona had offered to buy him, but he wanted to go to RM i.e. all that post-hoc reasoning from Barca fans is complete BS.
Sandro Rossell did that deal back then, he was with Nike, and the potential to tie a Nike star and Barcelona into a long term Nike partnership was huge. Rossell was basically negotiating on both ends to also show the player how much more profitable that relationship would be for everybody. Madrid never stood a chance to get him. Rossell was friends with him and was pitching it to him as a friend. But people will believe anything that fits into their view.
It is also a [relatively unknown but obvious] desire to have a Ballon d'Or winner on the team. Since Modric left, there were none left. CR7, Modric and Benzema filled that label for a while. The way things are going, it maybe a while before Real Madrid has a reigning BdO winner though. It's crazy how often Florentino had a team full of multiple BdO winners. Which might explain when Vini Jr didn't win, Florentino and by extension the club was so upset. 1st galacticos: Zizou, R9, Figo, Owen 2nd galacticos: Kaka, CR7, Modric, Benzema
Rossel also specifically partnered the Brazil NT’s sponsorship with Nike, so from a commercial viewpoint Ronaldinho’s options back then were Man Utd, Inter and Barcelona. United must have been the obvious choice though but the cultural fit probably played a big part, as Ronaldinho was struggling to settle down in Europe back then. … once this deal fell through at the 11th hour then Ronaldinho to Barca became an option for them. Crazy switch up.
If it means the club will win back to back La Liga's immediately and resign in the third year, then sure WHY NOT - what is there to lose we are already not winning and without a winning plan?
