This totally calmed everybody down and the focus is positive and trending upwards for the team! It sent a message of unity and celebration to the fanbase! Hip hip hurray.

I’ve been highly critical of Flo/The Institution of the Club for the last year. Not sure what you’re on about.
My favourite quotes from the press conference: “Some very nasty journalists are treating me very unfairly. Very unfairly. But the Madridistas understand. They get it. The Bernabéu renovation — everyone said impossible. Now they look at it and say, ‘Wow, Mr. President’. Some people are even crying. True story.” “I know deals better than anybody. The UEFA Champions League? We practically invented winning it. At Real Madrid, we win so many UEFA Champions League titles that the fans are exhausted. They come to me and say, ‘Mr. President, please, no more trophies, we can’t celebrate anymore.” “The referees are very bad people. Very nasty to Madrid. People are saying it everywhere. We’re going to put tariffs on clubs that park the bus against Real Madrid. If you defend with eleven men behind the ball, you pay. Very simple. We will build a wall around the Bernabéu penalty area — and Barcelona will pay for it. Make Madrid Great Again.”
Strong feeling of de ja vu going on after that press conference. Seemed like a more unfiltered version of that from 20 years ago.
Oh God. A few pages back I questioned why every leader now is a wannabe Trump. Had no idea he actually said this.
How can you possibly claim to "have your eyes open" when you don't know anything about him or the ones that came before him? Its just that when the team wins, all this stuff is completely irrelevant. It's the most common thing in sports.
I know his mind wasnt operating like Trump's mind 20 or 10 years ago. Power corrupts and downfall follows.
Lmao the last paragraph is what made you doubt it?? The whole thing reads like something only someone as deranged as Trump would say.
No you don't, otherwise you would know how many economic and political scandals he's been involved in. When he was asked a question in court he once famously answered with "if you would really know who you have in front of you, you wouldn't ask me this stuff". He sent a text to a Madrid politician that was critical of the stadium renovation plans to tell her that if he wants she'll never be in any office ever in her life. All this stuff is there, but you didn't know about it. So no "I know". You don't know shit. This is how Florentino built it. You take the good with the bad.
Bullshit. Florentino used to have a firm grasp of reality and as many said the first time he stepped down he showed significant self criticism. Its one thing to be arrogant, another to be delusional to the point of talking about the fake news media, the stupid fat slob from ABC, conspiracies against him, how bigly he won and look how beautiful the stadium is. Give me a break. Hes losing it, its the textbook descent of megalomaniac authoritarians. There are making Homelander memes about him ffs.
You’re acting like the purpose of a club president is to personally fix your mood swings by the end of a press conference. lmao, what did you expect? a marvel postcredit scene where everyone hugs and the music starts playing? The season was already messy before he opened his mouth. Him refusing to do a public mass execution of players for entertainment doesn’t suddenly make things worse
Would love to understand the timelines of the election. This is going to have a huge impact on our summer plans. Just for starters, Mourinho's clause expires before end of May.
The guy spoke about Real Madrid playing in the NBA in the early 2000s, THE ACTUAL NBA IN THE USA. He spoke about amusement parks, race tracks that Real Madrid operates. That has been in talks since the first time he entered the club. The fact that you think he recently changed says more about how close attention you was paying than him. He could either buckle and ask for forgiveness or be unapologetically him and do what he always did, attack.
I'm with Florentino. My fear was that he was unhealthy and holding on like Biden. That doesn't mean I don't acknowledge that the sports planning has been disastrous for the past 3 seasons (yes even including the last UCL win year in 2024). That being said, I'm giving him benefit of the doubt and waiting to see what he does in the next few months. We're all rightly pissed about the sporting side but it seems there's a lot of other things that need to be put in order before dealing the sporting project. Let us have the elections and get some clarity institutionally, and then let's start the new chapter which this is definitely. I didn't get from this conference a president that things no changes are needed.... I didn't get that at all. It was just not the topic everyone wanted to hear: "coach sucks, players are crap, we're going to change everyone and start winning". This to me was pure institutional politics and he seemed to be mainly talking to the socios. Let's wait and see. 2 bad seasons haven't made me doubt Florentino yet... what this guy has done for the club is ridiculous. I'm not yet ready to take a chance on some new shiny toy of an inexperienced hotshot young president. Patience.
