It's only 5 right now. But I'm getting too old for it.

Hope there is a reasonable way out for Cannon.

FCD could use a central defender upgrade. RCB in the three back line? Did he burn his bridges?

Same salary as QPR or less?

If it's less, would he likely be at/close to that if he'd stayed in MLS?

If I were FCD, I would be pissed. Not because I want Reggie Cannon back, but because I got way less than was promised for him and now my divisional rival gets him for bupkis and salary

    I agree.

Cannon's career over the past three years has been terrible for everyone involved. Dallas, Boavista, QPR, Reggie himself, and even the USMNT. Everyone is worse off. It's almost unbelievable in how bad it has been.

The good thing - and I never, ever thought I’d say this about my Rapids - under Armas we’ve become a pretty good home for a reclamation project after your European disappointment, failure, etc. See Steffen, Milhailovic, Bassett and Vines. The latter two returning home but still applicable. Hopefully, Cannon can have a similar revival. We definitely need a Bombito replacement. It’s a tight knit group of players and as crazy as it sounds, I’m trusting Armas that Cannon can adapt quickly.

Can he make enough money to pay back Boavista?

I hear they don't mind if debts get paid late. ;)

Boavista will have a hard time "collecting" on their supposed $1.5 million judgment, assuming Reggie refuses to pay. They would have to find a lawyer to sue Cannon and start garnishing his wages or any other assets - which would look pretty bad. Plus I doubt Cannon has enough assets to even satisfy the judgment.

So I assume going forward Cannon never plays in Europe to avoid being hit with collection lawsuits, and Boavista stays out of Colorado state courts to avoid a PR backlash with future signings.

I was having this thought in reverse when people were calling for Tanner Tessmann to sue his US-based agents: sue them for what, where, and with what standing?

In retrospect, Reggie should have waited out his contract with Boavista, and then sued them for any money they hadn't paid by the end of the contract. Then he would have had a judgment against Boavista, and they would eventually be forced to pay by the International Court of Sport or other court. They could have been suspended from league play if they hadn't paid Cannon. He would also have been a free agent.

    Hindsight is 20/20, of course.

easy to say...let his career wither on the vine just to get revenge on tht mess of a club

the whole thing is ridiculous...really shocking to me that a portugeuese club can not pay a player for month(s?) and still maintain legal precedence over such a player

this whole deal stunk from day 1....he wasn't even supposed to go to boavista...was supposed to go to ligue 1 and play 1 year there....total clstrrfk

lesson is: avoid middlemen wherever possible in these dealings

I’m going off memory but more or less he was saying Boavista was in the right and Cannon screwed them over. It seems the courts agreed with that. Most everyone here was saying Reggie was the victim.

idk....he wasnt even supposed to stay there more than a year...that was the original plan....

    everything was super shady....

boavista had scandal after scandal.....just bc courts sided with them doesnt mean cannon was in the wrong....he DID have unpaid wages....

the ruling doesnt make sense to me

love to hear reggies take on the whole thing
