I hope they sell them at cut-rate prices... (1) sell the jerseys at the stands if you have to--there is a clear market for them... The Umbro version was way better than the uhlsports of 2001, and those don't even fit me anymore...
The Brandi, Sissi, Katia, Tisha name jerseys sell out quickly... So as long as I get a basic design I'm happy... Anyone know how much they will cost this year? A bit tight on the wallet but like to grab one without having to go through ebay...
How much did the game-worn ones cost last year? I confess I went to the SCU game instead of the fan party last year, as I know a lot of area soccer fans did. I heard later they'd had the jerseys but it did me no good!
shortee check your email... Also, can anyone post the full listing of the newsletter email? I am subscribed, and they don't have the announcement on the Rays website... if so, thanks!
Nap, here's the newsletter: Code: CYBERRAYS FALL CLEARANCE SALE The CyberRays will change uniform suppliers for the 2003 season, and that means we've got a storeroom full of uniforms and practice gear that's priced to move. The complete inventory will be on sale from 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at our annual Fan Appreciation Picnic at History San Jose in Kelley Park at 1650 Senter Road. On sale will be CyberRays jerseys -- replica jerseys as well as authentic (some game-worn with player names, numbers and all sponsor patches) -- socks, shorts, rain gear, cold weather gear and practice T-shirts. There's no admission charge to the Fan Appreciation Picnic, and there is free parking adjacent to the park at the end of Phelan Avenue, so pack a lunch and come on out. In addition to the equipment sale, there will be the music of Swirl, autographs, CyberRays merchandise and additional planned activities plus the opportunity to tour attractions in the 14-acre park. Please, no alcohol and no glass. I'll probably be a no-show. There's a double-header @ Stanford. The women will be wrapping up the Pac-10 title against Arizona, & the # 1 overall seed heading into the NCAA playoffs. And the men will be looking for revenge against UCLA. Hey Somebody, watch the Bruins lose on Sunday. LOL.
Awwww man... why can't this be easier for me to get to?? I'd go with an empty suitcase and my credit card and cart the place away! I'll be at the Rose Bowl at the final, wishing I could get myself a few hundred miles north the next day. I want a Brandi jersey!! (among a hundred other things...) sigh... Norma
Two uni suppliers in the past two years. What's the deal? Is Umbro USA having problems supplying the kits? Did the Cyberrays find a better deal through another outfitter?
No way! Both Bruin soccer teams are going to administer thrashings to all opponents this weekend! The Stanford games bring up another issue: again the fan party is on the same afternoon as a local women's soccer game. I know it's got to be tough to try and find a soccer-free afternoon for the party, but it would be nice if they could! I know I go to the CyberRays games to see the game, not to hang out (though socialization is a nice fringe benefit), and I'd almost always rather watch live soccer (isn't that really the point?) than go get autographs or something. I'd guess that there are more than a few CyberRays fans who feel the same as I do. I'm still trying to decide whether I'm going to the party or the games.
Thanks to shortee and cachundo for clarifying what I missed (email problems)... As for uhlsport, they really didn't make a dent here, and for Umbro, at least in the US they are losing ground, or shall I say, falling even more behind to the Nikes and adidases... because of that, from what I heard they are losing the rights to outfit the MLS Revolution (though someone can correct me on this...) If that is the case, I hope they can get Nike as much as I can't stand them so (1) they can get a long term deal albeit through the league, (2) finally have an outfitter that could get merchandise out instead of waiting until end of season, and (3) they won't have to worry about being fitted by a cheap outfit, though I don't consider Umbro to be in that status though, losing out to Nike in the Man U outfitting sweepstakes is enough to send them reeling all over...
losing umbro in the US shows how low soccer is in the US...i do NOT want one uniform maker across the board, it makes all the jerseys look alike and also could lead to some U G L Y unis (MLS year 1 anybody?) I hope the crays jerseies dont change too much...i like them very much, has some thought to it...although diadora makes some kick ass unis too...nike jersies look too sterile and all look to be cut from the same mold.
Yeah, but it makes the Man U kit I have a collector's item, right? I've been wondering why the 'Rays weren't Nike sponsored all along. You'd think they'd want as much of an opportunity to promote Brandi as they can have. I'm no marketing expert, but I always thought that perhaps Mia Hamm being on the Freedom had a LITTLE bit to do with the Freedom being a Nike team. Anyway, I guess we'll see who we got next season.
While they're changing suppliers, they might as well change colors. Purple is ugly. The road kit is ugly. Only the orange GK kit looks nice. How about all-white kits?
Umbro outfits the Atlanta Beat and I haven't heard anything from them on changing sponsors, although there is a difference between Umbro USA and Umbro, or at least there used to be. Perhaps the C-Rays were UU and the Beat are just Umbro. The Nike kits are too alike. They started that cut with the National Team about 3 years ago and seriously, about 90% of women's college teams have that cut now, everyone looks the same. Kappa can make some pretty cool unis along with Diadora. Kelme is alright(Didn't we have a fall-out w/ them just before the start of the '02 season?). And then of course there's adidas. Just have to wait and see....
I would be thinking that Brandi is a Nike endorsee like Mia. On paper, the swoosh should have been there trying to promote her wearing their brand. As for Mia, I'm thinking on paper that had Carolina been in place instead of being in Orlando in the first place she would have been there instead. Anyway, Mia being in DC to my thinking would have to do more with the Freedom being as competitve to their male counterparts DCU. Though having Nike supplying their uniforms would be obvious to having her on the team. ----- Side note, if anyone gets any news about Sunday's event I'm wondering if it could get pushed back due to weather. Fear you have until Sunday morning to get in touch with me--thanks! Cheers!
Bring a lunch and picnic with CyberRays players and staff at History San Jose in Kelley Park from 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, rain or shine. Swirl, a great five-piece alternative pop band based in the Bay Area, will perform, and there will be autographs, CyberRays merchandise and planned activities as well as the opportunity to tour the 14-acre park. There's no charge for admission or parking. Please, no alcohol and no glass. Anyone willing to brave the elements? Be there, rain or shine.
I want a Siri Mullinix AND a Zap bobblehead... Looks like I'll be heading there Sunday, though only for a couple of things...
