From Today's Washington Post: Despite some trade offers, United Coach Ray Hudson said it's almost certain D.C. will retain the top overall draft pick and select University of Virginia forward Alecko Eskandarian. "He's too good, he's too gifted to pass up. He's special," Hudson said. Maybe we go with Diego Walsh then?
Very few of us know what we're talking about when it comes to college players we've barely seen, but there's Walsh and Ricardo Clark as top prospects, among others. Rumor has it that another dozen or so P-40s are signing with the league - picking up a few of them for very limited roles now and bigger roles in the future, when they don't take up cap space on this top-heavy team, could be a very good strategy. Not getting Alecko is not going to be the tragedy everyone made it out to be.
I very much like the sound of Clark. Williams won't be serviceable for much longer, and Moore doesn't have a great upside. But their presence means that we won't need to rely on Clark right from the start.
