Teams are different - some have open try-outs, some don't. You should contact the front offices of the teams you are interested in. You should treat this like applying for a job - make a resume of your experience, a tape of you playing a meaningful game, so on. Be ready for rejection.

Do you actually have professional experience? I don't think MLS is a "walk on" league anymore.

I was on my way to go pro and I broke my foot, after i broke my foot I lost contact with the managers and I went my own way, now I'm 24 better than I was before, and I'm just waiting. If u know anyone who can give me some info that would be great.

No offense but you might want to try A-League before MLS. They might be more likely to have a walk on try out. Otherwise keep calling MLS teams.

    good idea

Hey have u seen them play. trust me if u saw half of the players i've played with the mls would be out of business. The MLS isn't that hard to play in, alot of talent out there have no connections or they don't have paperwork if u kow what i mean. I've played with people who played pro in italy and russia, brazil, columbia, peru, and mexico. I have a team now that could probably take on the MLS but whatever I just have to go about it the right way so.. DO u know of any A leagues?

You're like the 4th person to ask this in recent months. There's a thread with the combined answers of those who came before you here.

I'm from country X and want to play Soccer in the US (trials, etc)

The one stipulation is that if you're not already a us citizen, you must become one before you use this infromation to further your soccer career. Information from these boards doesn't come free, our price is the potentiality of being able to be drafted into the USMNT pool.

Also, although Chivas USA is apparently going to try to address some of the concerns you may have about untapped talent. I'd warn you not to come on here looking for help, virtually ignorant of MLS and American soccer, and then go ahead and slander our league.

That's odd. I was wondering why no-name amateur players weren't crawling all over the MLS rosters just the other day.

Sounds like a regular John Wolyniec, eh?

If you and your friends are so good then you should play pick up games in front of the MetroStars parking lot at the Medowlands and wow them. Otherwise, don't talk so much.

    with all do respect

Don't get me wrong the US has some talent but where do most of there stars play Europe... right.
But anyway like I said have u watched the games, I have to give them credit where credit is do, but honestly the only hard thing about the MLS is getting in . Only so many players can be in the league so, I'll just keep trying.

    thanks

Well it's not in Brooklyn, Argentina, or Brazil for that matter. You might want to check the transfer wires too buddy. Trust me though, if you want some help, and people are very willing. Shut your mouth.

Just check that thread I linked. It should provide you with enough information to get a start. Other than that just browse around these boards and read threads about the general set up and structure of MLS and the USL. Mod's you might want to close this thread.

Bruce Arena once remarked to someone who had asked about all the untapped talent out there that he hadn't seen any Ronaldos wandering the streets of New York. My suggestion to anyone interested in making it to MLS is to first tyryout for your local PDL team. If you're good enough, the word will get out very fast.

    Re: on ronaldo

My quess is that if you were as good at scouting talent as you were playing soccer you wouldn't be playing in some New York ethnic league...

    hey

hey again, I don't play in NY anymore , and don't hate on NY manI love the redsox. :) Even though I don't know what there going to do with my boy Garciaparra but... u can't compare elite players like Ronaldo to Mcbride or Donovan can you? OK then u have to admit the best players in the MLS are on team USA except for Jeff Agoos haha... anyway like I said the US only allows so many international players and American players , what we need is the best of both worlds to be a dual citizen, like me :)
Hey maybe one day I'll be in the MLS maybe not, but I won't know unless I try.

I can't figure out if this clown makes me want to laugh or weep.

I'll go with laughing for now. The idea that there are street players in the US good enough to be playing in MLS is pretty funny. That this guy is one of them is outright hysterical.

    Maxim, your patience is commendable.

    u obviously don't get around

be what it may , laugh or cry when i watch the MLS on TV i cry , I feel like it's a game of kick ball and sometimes the ball falls in the net. Anyway like I said there is talent in the MLS but I have seen better.

Well there's something to be said that there's been a handfull of people on these boards who've come on here wishing to play for MLS, but have absolutely no idea about it. They state that it's their desire to play MLS but have done virtually no research about it and have no understanding as to how it operates or its level of play. Due to this guy mentioning Jeff Agoos he may just be an elaborate sock puppet. However, if someone comes on here asking for help in pursuing a soccer dream I'll help them out, even when it seems that basic internet skills would get you as far as our hand holding could.

I think that we should probably edit the first post of the sticky in US Soccer as a disclaimer. 'We are not here to educate you about everything related to US Soccer and MLS. If you don't know anything about it, chances are you're not good enough to play in it. However, on the off chance you are, read this thread which should be helpfull.'

ok...you are a tool. you are a typical pick up soccer player. you have no idea what it takes to play in any professional league i am sure. you know how to go out and play in pick up games and you might even do well because you arent playing against anyone that is good. You and these friends of yours might have individual skill but put them in a game where all 11 players have to play together and play as one unit and those type of players will be exposed as a weak link and laughed off the field. But if you do get a tryout, make sure you let the guys on the team know that you cry when you watch their games, i am sure they would welcome you very warmly.
