    Hi Chelsea fans!
I wonder to know what was the song just before the kick-off,it sounds like an old ska tune, this music started, the fans clapped the hands 3 times and shout then "CHELSEA!"
    Thanks!

ps:i really liked the chants from the Matthew HARDING lower terrace ;)

I'm going to take a WILD guess here, but Chelsea has such a great ska background in two of its songs, I just had to. :D

Sammy's Dead is the only actual ska song, but Blue Day, which is pure Britpop, was pulled together and mostly sung by Suggs, of Madness fame, who is also a huge Chelsea fan. I'm guessing you prolly heard Blue Day.

*retreats to her music geek corner* ;)

    *bows*

    Thank you kindly. :)

I'm guessing the answer is no, but I'll ask anyways - do they still play Sammy's Dead? It's such a great yet completely obscure choice to warmup to.

Dr Intox would be able to answer that one better than i, being stateside these days. The Liquidator was always the song played before the team took the pitch in my day.

    Ska v Mod.

Many a fight broke out over that you know.

Looking back at that time i'm glad i didn't hit my teens untill the late 70's.
Never got into the whole music thing really - i was quite firmly into the skinner thing.

Green bomber jacket, 16 hole docs, tight blue jeans, white t-shirt, shaved head, Chelsea scarf, and off to the games i went :D

For all of the games i've been to since i've been over, its gone Liquidator-Kalinka-Blue Day.

There's been alot of talk in the programs about playing less music other than those few "Chelsea" songs so that the stadium can get the atmosphere and singning going before the match starts, but we will see..

Yes I am fairly sure that it is the liquidator, tune, three claps, shout of Chelsea?

That tune takes me back to the old days of the Ben Sherman shirts, the brogues shoes and the crombie coats

I read this on the Fans Forum mintues on Chelseafc.com:

Thirdly, the issue of pre-match atmosphere. This was tried immediately on the day of the last Forum. We are happy to publicise the fact that there is a period of non-PA sound pre-kick-off for fans to fill the space, in effect. There are some interruptions to that, such as the Champions League anthem, but we will try and stick to it where possible.

We are going to introduce a producer for match days as well, which should help the process. We will also be showing the video released for the new badge launch before kick-off.

Here's a link to the whole thing: http://www.chelseafc.com/userincludes/data/Fans_Forum_Minutes_201104.doc

Looks like Kenyon, fans, et al want it to happen.
