If you're down that the MLS season has ended, there's a good college game in Santa Clara Sunday. SCU has reached the NCAA men's sweet sixteen and will be playing a home playoff game against an upset winner, Coastal Carolina. If the college game itself doesn't excite you, then you can think of it as scouting for next year's MLS draft. Coastal Carolina is sporting two of the top three leading goal scorers in NCAA this year. One, Joseph Ngwenya, is reputed to be the next Damani Ralph. Sunday 1pm Buck Shaw Stadium. Right next door to the Santa Clara Caltrain station. Unfortunately, you won't see Ryan Cochrane or Steve Cronin as they are in UAE for the U-20's. Even in their absence, SCU plays a stong defensive game.
Re my soccer jones: I got up this morning and slipped in the Spanish version of "the Miracle at Spartan". I'm at the 60 minute mark right now. Enjoyed every minute of it so far.
