    back in el defectuoso
    First, watch many MFL games.....

I won't try to persuade you to follow this or that particular team, but learn the following:

The most popular team is Chivas (Guadalajara). They only field Mexican players; thus they capture a lot of Mexican patriotic sentiment.... Their new owner, Jorge Vergara, is (IMHO) opinion a shady (very shady) version of Mark Cuban.

America is the team owned by the largest Media company in Latinamerica, Televisa. A lot of controversy always follows them as claims of game fixing and payouts always hang around their championshps. A lot of that is BS, though, because, simply put, America always is the team that pays top $$$ for their players and coaches... Still, "funny" things always happen around them and they and their followers are obnoxious. They have a huge following. They also are the most hated (by far) team in the league. If you enjoy being the "bad guy" this could be your team.

The supposedly third team in popularity in Mexico is Cruz Azul. This is a team that is owned by a cement Company. They won a lot of Championships in the 70's, and a couple in the 80's and 90's, but they are frankly in a downslide. They don't sell out their stadium and their followers are very flat.

The fourth team (and in my opinion third team in Mexico) is my team, Pumas (cougars) of UNAM, the team that represents the largest University in Latinamerica. We may not be the most successful team over the ages (though we have 3 championshps) but always give the good fight. They are considered one of the teams that produce a lot players. Many of the Mexican stars that have gone to play abroad played originally in Pumas. Their fans are the most passionate (sometimes considered violent) fans. Their followers are spread out all over Mexico, (same as America and Chivas).

The rest of the teams are regional..... So if you have affinity for a city or region of Mexico, you can follow their team. Atlas (Guadalajara), Rayados or Tigres (Monterrey), Santos (Torreon), Toluca (same), etc.

    Hope this helps

Thanks yall. I dont have any acess to games. FSW doesn't show them, and I don't get univision. I haven't decided yet, but it will probably come down to which city I like the best. I like bieng the bad guy so maybe America is for me, but I hate clubs from nation-dominating cities like Mexico City (new york, london, paris, rome, madrid, etc.) Chivas mightbe my team if they have a big fan base. If thier owner is like Mark Cuban, thats good because I am a big Mavs fan. Thanks again. It is appreciated.
