Yeah. I was making that argument last night but it appears the union and league made exceptions in July allowing a NYRB player to be called up 7 times. If Tannerwald and Bogert are confused about the rule then something is amiss. Tannerwald said Cavan is out of callups, but they play Miami next week and to keep an eye on if he is allowed to play.
We did not before the match. Even if we win out (unlikely to rip off 8 in a row), we need Miami to drop points in 2 of 7. Realistically, now more like 4 of 7.
Now I don't feel so bad about chanting "There's only one Dong Arbor" at the top of my lungs. Mrs. DnD said my face was red from how loud I was.
I’m still blaming Romero most. What he did was unbelievably stupid. I know it’s his first game and all that, but how about, I don’t know, let the players on the best team in the league make plays in front of you and outside the box, and you just stay put and makes catches and saves? Sounds simple enough to me. If he got red because someone broke through and was 1v1, then OK that happens. This was not that.
I dunno. I mean, it's obviously a bad play, but I don't know how much I want to fault an MLS keeper playing in his first MLS game and may not see the field again for... god knows how long for trying to make a play. I've seen much better keepers make much worse mistakes.
This is your reminder that the Crew decided a friendly was more important than a regular season game, it cost them three points.Trophy centered teams don't have that problem.Friendly centered teams do.#TrophiesNotFriendlies https://t.co/Tt0PA0IAHc— Dave Clark (@bedirthan) September 8, 2024 Pathetic.
When Jordan Morris and Zawadzki were chasing down that ball, Romero thought to himself, “these aren’t the runs I’m used to.”
At MLS Cup they stupidly dropped Don off on the west side a few minutes before the team bus arrived. About 500 of my closest freinds joined in a rousing F*ck you Don chorus that was truly epic. I thought the guy next to me was going to have a stroke. The hate is strong in CBus. Sure Dee, we'll forgive and forget. When pigs fly. You need to spend more time on the phone riding his ass about screwing over your team and less.time kissing it over charcuterie and Dom in a VIP suite. We'll do our job, you do yours.
Getting to the first half of the game. I liked AZ and thought he combined well. Herrara looked alright. And I really liked Camacho on the right, so Cheberko and Sean could match Morris's pace. Nagbe's worst game in a while. Vega put good pressure on him.
Yeah we didn’t control our destiny but could have got within 1 point by beating them plus winning the GIH . Now it’s much harder we couldn’t afford to lose last night.
It makes sense as a deterrent to people stashing a ringer on their second team to get around roster rules - but to limit the number of times an academy or home grown player can be called up, when they already wouldn’t affect the senior team salary cap does not make sense. Also, MLSNP guys are not members of the MLSPA (the call up limit rules come from the CBA) and unions typically have very strong opinions on employees who are not union members taking away work from those that are.
Thing is we are paying 4 Gk salaries that should be sufficient and allowing us to have a MLSNP guy to be the 5th option honestly should have unlimited call ups and if you don’t actually play in a game it shouldn’t count as a call up anyways.
There is no salary cap, no minimum salary, no maximum salary and no age restrictions of any kind. If you wanted to spend the money, you could sign anyone on Earth for whatever they wanted, or a ham.sandwich if they were willing to sign. It's the wild west.
