http://www.boston.com/news/daily/10/011003_mcdonough.htm Died last night while watching Sportscenter. Almost always controversial, very informed, and opinionated. He'll be greatly missed. Condolences go out to his friends and family.
The man never liked "the beautiful game," dare i say being one of its harshest critics in the Boston area. Having said that, may he rest in peace. (but slowly and surely, the anti-soccer writer generation in the U.S. will croak like flies in the next 20-30 years.)
I have no idea where all the "let's be complete dolts" are coming from, regarding this. I'm choosing to remember Will in a positive way. Condolences to his friends and family.
Yes, yes... condolences to his friends and family. I'll be hearing about how great a person he was during the exuberant coverage of his death on the radio, tv, newspapers, etc- and if you know the Boston sports media, you know this is true. (I'm just trying to cast a little silver lining in the clouds for the fans who hate the ol' media that loves to hate soccer.)
I remember him on so many NFL weekends on television. Considering we are watching the playoffs today, he is missed. Time goes by and things change. We think of the good old days and at times we think last week as retro. But, as more of these "greats" pass on, we will notice that the more we laugh to goofy sportcenter jive the more we will miss those guys that made us think regardless if we ever agreed.
That was apparently true. If so, I don't have an issue with the report since that would be what he was actually doing.
