Considering the fact that at least 4 clubs on the Club Registry are members of the Lone Star Cup (LSC) Federation (with at least 3 of those teams competing this season) I figured I'd start a thread following LSC XI from start to finish. You know, just for the heck of it. The LSC is a cup open to clubs who are supporters and have joined the LSC Federation. I do this for selfish reasons since I can use the fed forum as a central location to organize things, I can send newsletters to every member with a single click of the mouse, and it cuts down on clubs bailing out at the last minute. There are currently 47 members in the LSC Federation, including several GM's, MOD's, and clubs in Division I of their nation. The Belgian clubs are really tough, although a Canadian swept the field last season. There are actually 3 competitions held each season: Lone Star Cup After a two-legged Qualifying Round for overflow clubs, the LSC runs on a 32-club format identical to the real life World Cup. The one difference is that only group winners advance, so there's no Round of 16. Rush FC of Canada won last season. Texas Shootout This 8-club single elimination tournament is open to the clubs finishing 2nd in their First Round group. The Fancy Garlic Presses of USA won last season. The ELK The official 'secondary' cup of the federation is open to all clubs who fail to qualify for the LSC First Round. Once known as the Texas Shootout, then the Pie Throwout, it's now run by a player in merry old England. The format changes every season, but the winner gets a free ticket to the LSC First Round for next season. Ross Bay Rovers of Canada won last season. With that said, I'm not trying to solicit new members or anything. You're free to join if you want (The ELK is the only tourney you could compete in this season, though), but I just thought it'd be fun to post results in a thread on BigSoccer. The owner of Lokomotiv Veltem (Belgian top division, not competing in the LSC this season) has been a huge advocate of the competition over the past 10 seasons. He helped recruit a ton of Belgian teams to join up. ArsenalPSX of Canada (no longer playing HT) did the same thing with clubs in his country.

Rush FC (Canada) 0:0 (2-1 PK's) Softies (Belgium) 5,152 fans went home happy after their Rush FC clawed their way past Softies 2-1 on penalty kicks after a tense 0-0 draw. Rush FC had 2 chances to Softies 1 in regulation, with Softies getting the only chance in golden goal overtime. Goalkeeping was stellar in the penalty kick session, with 5 attempts blocked overall. Rush FC now moves on to face MECHANIC FC in the LSC XI Semifinals. Panther City FC (USA) 2:5 MECHANIC FC (USA) 1,535 fans headed home with puzzled looks on their faces after watching home side Panther City FC go down in flames 5-2 against fellow american MECHANIC FC. After spotting MECHANIC FC a 12th minute tally, PCFC roared back with goals of their own in the 18th and 32nd minute. However, a 44th minute strike set the halftime score at 2-2. The 2nd half was all MECHANIC FC, who proceeded to score at will with strikes in the 51st, 71st, and 73rd minute. Bertem struck oil again in the 10th and 23rd minutes to take a commanding 3-1 halftime lead. Sydney pulled one back in the 48th minute, but weren't able to tie the match. Here are the results of the Texas Shootout XI First Round. Mustangs (Canada) 1:5 texans (Belgium) 2,848 Mustangs faithful saw things go from bad to worse in a 5-1 pasting at the hands of texans. Goals in the 6th and 20th minute saw a tense 1-1 match, but then Mustangs suffered a crippling midfield injury in the 24th minute. The coach took the field, possibly to exact some level of revenge, but it wasn't to be. texans took a 2-1 lead at the half with a strike in the 39th minute, and with only a 48 year old coach to contend with they struck again in 62nd, 68th, and 73rd minute. texans advances to the TS XI Semifinals with the win. Piftic Winkers (Denmark) 5:4 Nieuwmoer FC (Belgium) 5,043 fans chewed their fingernails down to nothing as the home side Piftic Winkers jumped out to a 4-1 lead, only to barely advance with a 5-4 victory over Nieuwmoer FC. With 9 goals being too much to document one at a time, this reporter will just say that a missing persons report needs to be submitted for both goalkeepers. Leading 5-2 late in the game, things got really exciting as the visitors netted goals in the 85th and 88th minute. But the equalizer never came. Piftic Winkers advances to the semifinals of TS XI. Bradford PA (USA) 4:0 Queens Park Strangers (England) 4,252 fans were treated to a clinic on how to win a match with ease as home side Bradford PA dispatched Queens Park Strangers 4-0. With a pair of goals in each half (2nd, 29th, 62nd, 71st minute), Bradford PA made things look easy as they booked their ticket to the TS XI Semifinals. Bradford PA's Stanislaw Sapiecha had an especially busy day, what with a goal, a missed chance, a yellow card, and then a sending off. Up next for Bradford PA is a match against Ross Bay Rovers. The Rovers drew first blood with a strike in the 36th minute, but the Knights drew level with a goal of their own in the 40th minute. Scoring again in the 43rd minute, Ross Bay took a 2-1 lead at the half. 3-1 was the score after a 74th minute strike, but The Fallen Knights still had life in them yet. Should he win The ELK, the runner-up will qualify for the LSC First Round.
Here are the results of the LSC XI Semifinals. Rush FC (Canada) 5-2 MECHANIC FC (USA) 4,225 faithful fans cheered as homeside Rush FC crushed MECHANIC FC 5-2. Goals in the 5th and 10th minute saw Rush FC hold an early 2-0 lead. MECHANIC FC wouldn't be denied, however, and scored teo of their own in the 12th and 14th minute. The match was deadlocked at 2-2 until Rush FC broke through with a tally in the 59th minute. Try as they might, MECHANIC FC couldn't break through, and gave up late goals in the 82nd and 86th minute. Rush FC now advances to the LSC XI Championship where they'll try to be the first club in LSC history to win back-to-back titles. Good luck! The clubs traded goals in the first half, with goals tallied in the 20th and 40th minute. The Skunks came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders, however, and took a commanding 3-1 lead with strikes in the 68th and 78th minute. Things looked all sewn up, even with a Bertem Shadownears goal in the 79th minute. But an 81st minute strike changed all that, and overtime was needed to decide a winner. Anxious about missing their return flight to Belgium, Bertem Shadownears only wasted 5 minutes before netting the winning goal.
