Sadly I'm being forced to London for work and I was hoping the Bigsoccer masses could help me since I'm pretty much clueless about the place.

The most important thing is trying to find somewhere to live that is reasonably close to Hyde Park Corner and Arsenal tube stations for work.

And a nice pub, where I can be bitter and northern.

Lots of reasonable priced flats near the Highbury and Islington Station or in Angel. Plenty of restaurants and pubs as well.

Not sure I understand what you mean by being near to Hyde Park Corner and Arsenal as they aren't near each other.

Islington is probably your kind of place, so long as you can tolerate a few yuppies priced out of Hampstead.

    Graham,

Send me a PM - I can give you some advice depending on budget. Stick to Piccadilly Line- serves both tube stops.

I personally would go for somewhere like Holloway road, Highbury and Islington etc. Good area's, not to expensive and both have a good selection of pubs. Loads of access to transport and good nightlife. Plus you can even joine me for a beer every match day at the Arsenal!!

Given Rick's spelling, you're lucky he got some of the letters right!

I could, I suppose, make a pitch for Chelsea, but I don't live there (inconvenient for work) and its probably out of anyone's price range.......

Hmmm, I actually realised the other day how bad my spelling is when typing. I generally don't have time to check what I have written on here before pressing ok. So I need to start being more careful, especially since I studied English as one of my A-Levels..............

That rather depends on what you compare it to.

I thought it was among the most expensive neighborhoods in London these days.

Not even close! Compared to Chelsea, SouthKen, St. Johns Wood, Mayfair, Hampstead, etc., its downright reasonable.

Now, compared to, say Hackney, you may have a point............
