Screw it. Conspiracy theories are too easy. But they often make more sense than the "official version" of events we are fed by the official media. Anyway, loud jeers for the O's owners and the city bigwigs for this latest act of vandalism.
Money. That's it. He was publically humiliated in September at a rally telling him to sell the O's. He didn't care. I know him. I'm a client. Has good lawyers working for him. But all he care about is himself period.
In other news, if your in the area, please go by Lockhart today and over the weekend as the MLS Combine is being held there. Its free to public to watch the inter-squad games. http://www.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20070103&content_id=81115&vkey=news_mls&fext=.jsp
Today's MLS action at Lockhart! This weekend may be the last we see of Lockhart before its demolished. http://www.soflastrikers.com/forums/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=1&showentry=40 If you don't want to join MiamiFC2 or SouthFloridaStrikers fans then go to http://www.miamifc2.com/2007_MLS_Adidas_Combine
I wonder if there is any possibility of using Lockhart as "spare parts" for the assembly of another SSS... it seems that it is of the "erector set" type of stadium rather than the concrete variety... (I may be all wet here, since I have only ever seen it on TV)... most of that type of stadium (like CCS and PaeTec park) are shipped in from a place where the parts are fabricated... it seems that it might give a good "head start" to someone... thoughts? Two things, 1. Making money and 2. Being the alpha dog. That's all ANY millionaire really cares about.
This is truly devestating to see. I got my hopes up with one article, only to have them crushed with the next. Of course, I am taking this personally, so I have a slightly different perspective on things. For me (and my family) Lockhart Stadium is family history...for others, it is a part of soccer history. I wish I were closer and could do something, outside of writing a letter. Thank you for your continuing support of the stadium!
Its particularly sad seeing how MLS is growing all over the US/Canada. Its totally contrary to the flow of money, SSSs towards soccer now. The timing stinks on Lockhart, and the baseball deal makes no sense anyway. I think Ft. Lauderdale has now permanently lost soccer to Miami, which will one day have an MLS franchise. No one will set up shop in Ft. Lauderdale after this...
