Hey, if you use the plus sign on the menu bar you can put a quotation from elsewhere up as a quote like when we're quoting someone else. It's the first item on the dropdown menu. Looks like this
Awesome article, thanks for posting. I encourage everyone to give it a read. It's a great example of good local journalism.
I loved this bit from Chris DeVille (a pretty great feature writer): "Nancy is big on authenticity and holistic thinking. He won’t smile just because somebody points a camera at him. But when his grin comes naturally, it is broad and contagious, as if flowing from somewhere deep within him. "
While my kids loved the Meet the Team event last season, I would enjoy attending a Meet the Coach event.
I wouldn't be surprised if a major portion of the decision was conflict/overlap with OSU and CBJ. With the new radio home, everything can be on the same station. Consistency is important. But then again, how many Crew fans are actually listening to an FM radio that isn't in their car?
I disagree. I listen to a lot of Youngstown State football and basketball games via the iHeart app, without any issues. Trying to listen to the Crew via 97.1 online or on the app was extremely frustrating. The feed would stop, then you would have to listen to a 30 to 60 second advertisement everytime you restarted the feed. Was awful.
Did we have a meet the team event yet ? I swear if i didn’t get a email somebody is going to get it lol
Over the years, I do not think I have ever talked to a Crew coach (which yes I know, pink slips..). On the other hand, when McCullers was around, he frequently sought us out. We were a small group back then. No, no. If it would help, I will make sure I mention the 2024 event to you when we get the email.
I miss Mark. One of my best Mark stories is when I was in the entry line at a pre MLS FCC game (in a pretty big crowd) and I hear my name called. It was Mark.
Even with the contract with the Alt channel, Bez still went on 97.1 the fan's morning juice this morning. He didn't state much other than hinting we still might be involved in the open cup, or he just was stating all the competitions we are usually involved in.
https://sports.yahoo.com/the-columb...up-their-encore-could-be-scary-135534626.html Enjoyed this article, pretty lengthy read and more reasons for optimism in case you needed them. Let’s get this season started. Im practically vibrating.
I hope we can keep him for at least another couple years.. I could read him all day long. Too many passages to quote. A true student (and teacher) of the beautiful game.
Breaking News: Our Dispatch beat writer has officially figured out how a 2-leg knockout tournament works. Also Breaking News: She thinks a 2-leg knockout round tournament is a uniquely CONCACAF setup. Correction: No matter what #Crew96’s opponent in the Round of 16 will be determinedCONCACAF rules are weird and with Columbus getting a bye, I’m still using this time to get the hang of it 😂 https://t.co/Zayk6szUwu— Brianna Mac Kay (@brimackay15) February 27, 2024
"The Football League Cup semi-finals, when previously played over two legs, would apply the away goals rule only after extra time." Brianna...this is not the FA Cup either. It'd be like if MLS and USL had a separate competition in addition to the US Open Cup.
Yea, good for her. As a journalist, hopefully she'll start figuring out how things work before commenting on them. Getting the facts correct is kind of an important aspect of her job.
I understand that life comes at you fast, and she was kinda tossed into the deep end when she got the job (as I recall, she immediately got on a plane and headed to a Crew away playoff match). I know, too, she's busy covering other sports for the paper. Still, she had the off-season to, you know, become casually familiar with the Crew's 2024 schedule, just might have noticed that there are only two matches scheduled for all of these CONCACAF games and, just maybe, wondered why that was the case. I can't really blame her. She's in over her head. You get what you pay for, and the Dispatch isn't willing to pay much for a writer to cover the Crew. I know a lot of other teams are in the same boat.
If you're new to soccer, you've probably never heard of a two-game aggregate series. And if you're still actively covering another sport in the Crew's offseason, you probably wouldn't feel the need to research whether or not the Crew were playing a competition with a format you've never heard of.
No. If you’re a professional, act like one, simple as. That being said, I can’t believe people are still bringing this up like it’s a thing. The people paying attention should be the ones embarrassed.
