We had a thread like this a while back, and I thought it was great, so I decided to start another one. My current pick -- Lunar Event: http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Lunar_Event/ Their new CD, "This Transparency," was just released last week. Good stuff. If you live in Indy, you can check out the new CD at Luna Music. They're also playing a show at Radio Radio in May. I intend to go see them.
Yanks FC is correct. Lunar Event is a fine band. Also from Indy, the pieces are a very nice pop band. www.thepieces.net They have been hovering around 50 or so on the cmj charts for a few weeks and from the sounds of it will be hitting england to do some support for evan dando, hopefully that works out for them.
(Hi Scott) Sounds good, I'll have to check them out. Another Indianapolis band I like is Johnny Socko - high tempo Ska/Rock, really get the audience up on their feet. (See you on saturday for the game?)
Should we rename this the indianapolis music thread? Actually I won't be making teh game saturday, I gotta work. I am bummed as hell, but what can ya do?
We might as well since no one else wants to extol the virtues of their local music scenes. Good call on the Pieces. Vess Ruhtenberg certainly deserves his due after all of his outstanding contributions to the Indy music scene.
download the benders clips from this page on the right side. they're awesome, distinct local band. http://www.thenog.com/music.html also, my other boston faves are www.thebeatings.com (pixies-esque) www.confidencemen.com(70's stones/elvis costello-ish)
my favourite co-pilot! i havent heard them (yet) but i bring them up because one of them is a bigsoccer member.
Re: Re: Local artists that you think people ought to know about I saw that. As soon as the paycheck comes in, it's off to Luna to pick up the CD.
From Philly....S Process. Recommended, if you're into Trail of Dead, or similar sounds. I'm currently listening to Saloon; really like their stuff.
