I wonder how much money MLS nets on these loan deals for players such as Graziani and McBride. I know that the players are reported to get more money for playing on the loan deals, but it stands to reason that the league is making a good bit more than the salary and incentives that they pay the players. I wonder if the league is going to start doing more of this in a calculated effort to keep quality players in MLS (as opposed to outright transfers) while at the same time subsidizing some of the more expensive salaries. I suppose it is just a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things, but the exposure does have the fringe benefit of establishing more of a baseline for transfer values, relative to the performance of players like McBride and all of the players who have gone over to train with Dutch teams.
