Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has a £30m pot to spend on new summer signings. Just who do you think he should sell, but more importantly who do you think he should sign ?

    Deano.

Why would Liverpool give Gerard Houllier £30m when he isn't gonna be there, is he gonna setup his own team? I think if he isn't really a manager in the summer he shouldn't sign anybody, keep the money and possibly retire to a remote island somewhere in the pacific possibly Danger Island in the Cook Islands, for a man that seems to go on about his "Bad Luck", I'm sure he'd fit right in on this cursed tropical haven. He could sign a few butlers though to help out!

Landon Donovan would be a huge signing for them, considering Owen might move abroad.... He can score goals and is probably as fast as Owen, I believe he can be a break out star with time and the ladies get to keep their Eye Candy as well.... DaMarcus Beasley seems to be interested in Spanish Clubs and Mulrooney is a very good D-Midfielder... As For Adu, who does not want him?????

Should be in the Liverpool forum. Provide a link, because this is the first I've heard of GH being handed any money for new signings, or much less the guarantee of a job this summer.

And Liverpool are not signing Landon Donovan. C'mon, people...

Well LD might not get sign by Liverpool but he is certainly better than current Liverpool Players Milan Baros, Hajdi Diouf and Emile Heskey..... u can askPortugal's Figo, Rui Costa, Pauleta or Mexico's Marquez and torrado, Maube even Germany's Schenieder, Ballack or Kahn.

No it was not...... but unlike ur players he never misses a penalty kick... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... believe me i am a chelsea fan and i know satr when i see them, and stars never miss penalty kicks and get ready to miss Champions League football for two years in a row...HAHAHAHA... Maybe with LD u can finally get those PK's and secure that Champions League spot.. he would of made those goals againbst portsmouth in the FA cup and fulham last week.

£30m should be enough to land Martin O'Neil to take over plus play some clubs to take Heskey, Cheyrou [sic], Diof, and Biscan off of Liverpools books.

    :)

I always find the posts of "Chelsea" fans that don't (can't???) post their thoughts on players, tactics, where the manager went wrong ;), who should have done what etc etc etc, in the Chelsea forum....to be...er....well, i guess this would be descriptive enough----->

I'm not doubting that LD is a great player and has the potential to play in the upper echelons of Europe, but I don't think he has done anything to merit being considered in a better class than Milan Baros. In fact, I think that if Baros can stay healthy, he and Owen would form a pretty effective partnership. If Houllier or whoever is in charge wants to get the team back to the same level as the top three, he needs to splash out on a few heavy duty players not a series of medium-priced players with potential.

Not only that but the much-maligned (usually unfairly) Emile Heskey might also be entitled to take offence at the suggestion he is worse than Donovan.

What exactly has Donovan done in his career? As far as I can see, the highlight appears to be scoring at a World Cup.

Well, Heskey has done that, has played for a major European club without sulking and running home like a scared baby and also has far more medals to his name.

I don't see any possible justification for suggesting that Donovan is better.

If you saw any of the Liverpool-Fulham game last week, Baros was arguably their best player after Steven Gerrard.

I really can't understand this. Everytime I come on here I see American supporters banging on about how their players can mix it with the Big Boys in Europe yet the evidence quite clearly shows that in the whole scheme of it all they are fairly average players. Examples McBride-Bench,Howard-Bench, Keller/Friedel-both in the top 4 for goals conceded,Bocanegra-average full back, Joe Max-Moore-Everton Failure and then there's Clint Mathis-oh, he's great yet two years after his so called World Cup big break where is he now, Hannover 96, the true giants of European Football?
How anybody can say that Landon Donavon is better than Milan Baros or Emile Heskey even is beyond me. Would that be the reason he plays in a pathetic league with only ten teams?

They're going to give Houllier £30m????

To save time, why don't they cut out the middleman and flush it straight down the toilet?
