How did he play? I hope he played out wide as indicated by BBC. I think that’s how best to get him acclimated faster.
Very good display, long may it continue. This the formula to claw our way back, organized and clean sheets.
We should have won comfortably they barely created anything. If not for that Belgian GK we would have scored 3 at least. Great defensive performance and a much improved performance from players like Wirtz, Mac Allister and Konate
The post game interview with Szoboslai may have been the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. Paramount is a disaster.
Anyone notice Wirtz either wears no shinpads or if he is they are a child's xs size Great game from him today.
Wirtz played a lot better than most of his previous games. Was much more involved playing out on the left than he was playing on the right against Frankfurt. I still would like him to be a bit more aggressive… he still has a tendency to pull out of challenges. But he was starting to link up with Ekitike, Szobo, and MacAllister. Would also sometimes slide into the center and the right, but this looked pretty natural and it was him running down the right half-space that led to his best pass to Szobo. If Szobo had picked his shot a bit better (and Courtios hadn’t made an outstanding leg save) he’d have laid on a sublime assist… Personally, I think if they are able to bulk Wirtz up a bit and improve his stamina he’d be a much more effective player. This is probably the main difference between Szobo and he in terms of effectiveness right now. They both have good vision and pick out nice passes, but Szobo is more mobile and gets more stuck in right now.
Whether we've turned a corner or nor remains to be seen, but that was probably our best performance all season. As Carra said in the post-match commentary, ever Liverpool outfield player outperformed their RM counterparts. Bradley looked like he's back to his best. Wirtz was miles better than in previous matches. Dom was Dom - all over the place. Hugo is going to give teams nightmares. And rumors of Robbo's demise have proven to be overstated. Hopefully we see a similar performance at the Emptyhad.
Bradley was the best FB in the stadium tonight. The second best was Steven Gerrard and he only played that position in the 2005 CL Final for 15 minutes.
It was the right call. But who knew that reversing the call and cancelling the free kick was an option? It was enough of a handball for the ref to give it outside the box, but not enough of a handball to award a penalty. It’s the exact same scenario as at Brentford. If you’re allowed to just cancel the call you already made, why was the ref not sent to the monitor and asked if he thought Van Dijk’s foul was worthy of a penalty? It’s crazy how the same scenario worked against us this time. The only reason that it was reviewed was because it could potentially give us a penalty. However, if it was outside the box like the ref thought, then it is not something that can be reviewed. Somehow we managed to lose our free kick when free kicks are not reviewable.
Great to hear these comms - I stayed well away for ju-ju management reasons. Especially happy with the Wirtz comments, I want this guy to succeed very, very badly. Bradley's a beast, Szobo's the 8 we always thought we had with Keita (sorry to bring that name up in the conversation).
Just watched the playback with the collected touches from Bradley on the LFC website… man what a performance. I had noted that he was having a really good game, but wow! It was interesting to see how the duel with Vinicius went down - at the beginning of the game Vini was talking and trying to goad Bradley, but by the end he was just complaining, to his teammates, to the refs, and you could see the dejection set in as he realized he’d been dominated all game. Bradley just kept his head down, ignored the antics, and dominated.
there was a funny post - "Vinicius spent 3 months breezing through training against Trent and figured it would be easy to rock up to Anfield against his understudy, Conor Bradley."
Best game we've played this year. Everybody looked locked into their tasks. Bradly was phenomenal against tough competition. Mo looked the best he has this year taking on and actually beating some players. Should've had an assist and had some opportunities for assists that he passed up. Wirtz looked good with the ball and defensively. Mac is looking like he's getting back to his best. Nobody had a bad game. If we can play every game with that level of focus and intensity, we should be good for the rest of the season.
I missed the game due to work Sounds like a classic European night at Anfield. loved seeing the result. my son and I just watched the highlights. Ynwa
