We showed a lot of heart to play down a man so long and still have chances to win it. Their first goal took that unfortunate bounce off of Robbo or I like Ali's chances to make the save. Their second was a poacher's goal but they still needed to get a lucky deflection to send it across the line. While I hate dropping points two games in a row, I just have the feeling that the way Slot is navigating the untimely injuries and suspensions, and keeping us in every game, that we are in this for the long haul. Very unlucky - and Robbo keeps letting us down - which is tough to see for a player that is more or less a club legend.
Good point considering the circumstances of the match. I love Robbo, we all do, but he needs to be the #2 LB at this point. He's a step slow now and that's led to mistakes. I don't think Tsimi is the answer so a new LB and another CB should be priorities for the recruitment team.
Tough to say after just having cursed him (not really) for two hours, but I'd love to be able to poach Jedi (Anthonee Robinson) from Fullham, although at this point they likely, and justifiably, consider him one of their most important players.
It think that was a game if you only saw the result, you’d say 2 points dropped. Knowing how it played out you’d probably say, fair enough, might’ve won it, but a draw will do.
I think he was literally a step slow after that awful challenge he suffered from early on. It was a nightmare day for Robbo. Got injured, wasn’t great for the goal, then gets sent off.
I think the ref was scared to give a red, one minute into the match. Dunno why he ignored the deliberate block in the area, he just didn’t know what to do. Former Premier League referee Mike Deanbelieves Fulham should have been reduced to ten men in the first-half too, telling Sky Sports goalscorer Pereira deserved a red card for a foul on Ryan Gravenberch for which he was only booked. “Pereira caught Gravenberch on the top of his Achilles and scrapped down,” he said. "He's nowhere near the ball. He knew what he was doing. "It's 100 per cent a red card."
I agree, Ali stops that if it hadn't been deflected. Plus their 2nd was a deflection as well - off Jooes' foot - could have gone anywhere.
I was a bit late putting the game on, and that was the first thing I saw. 1,000% a red card! and they should have got another when that total prick of a RB body-slammed Joe. the refereeing was disgusting.
Slot said that Robbo was still feeling the affects of the earlier (non red!!!) challenge which hampered his mobility.
While I agree that he’s making more mistakes than before, I did think van Dijk sold him short by playing Wilson onside for the red. I’d also warrant that tackle on him early on affected him severely.
I thought the performance, if not the result was better than midweek especially in the second half. It’s probably not a popular opinion but watching that game I felt we should have done better with a couple of chances we got. The forwards have to do much more.
The knee was bothering him per slot - but it's really hard to place even a little blame on VVD. Watch the replay for where Wilson is - not really presenting any danger - but Robertson's first touch is so bad that the ball bounces away from towards (or at least parallel) with our goal (instead of say forward like back up the field). He then wildly swipes at Wilson who already has collected the ball and taken a dribble. This was all on Robertson.
People forget that a foiled attack on goal at one end leads to pressure on the defense that was backing up the attack as they back pedal. Then it’s called a defensive error or shitty goalkeeping.
