Liverpool vs. Fulham, 12.04.03 [R]

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by RedKnight, Apr 10, 2003.

  1. Every match is big from here on out.

Owen returns to the lineup. Diouf, however, is ruled out due to a shin injury.

Hyypia is available for this match, as I understand it (he serves the one-match ban next week, versus Everton.)

If all of that is accurate, then here's my choice for the squad:

    …………………Dudek

    Carragher—Traore—Hyypia—Riise

    Murphy—Hamann—Gerrard—Cheyrou

    …………..Heskey—Owen

    Subs:

    Arpexhad
    Smicer
    Biscan
    Baros
    Diao

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Smicer started, with Bruno on the bench.

As disastrous as we were on Saturday, Fulham were every bit as bad on Monday night against Rovers.

There's no reason in the world for us not to take three points on Saturday.

Got it about right --- not that there is much choice. Personally, I'm beginning to think that Diao should get some time as Didi really looks to be laboring with his shin problem. Also, I'd rather Baros got a chance, let Heskey rest up for the Derby. However, I think you've outlined the side that GH will pick. Vlad the Ineffectual will play over Cheyrou.

Fulham were miserable against Blackburn. this should really be an easy 3-pointer. but what ever is? i hope Smicer is on the left instead of Cheyrou. this is Sami's last game until he is suspended, right? with Henchoz still unfit, things do not look too good for Everton next weekend.

i hope we can really take it to them early and that Gerrard has his A game on.

Twisted ankle rules Murphy out at last minute.
    Vladimir Smicer gets the call.

Boy, FW, that e-Season Ticket is quicker than Stig! Mellor now listed as substitute.

    Thanks,

1-0 at the half. We ought to have at least 3 by now. Baros had some very good chances, and Owen looks great...in a footballing sense.

Need to win this, as Everton are 2-1 up on WBA.

Groovy intermission music on the e-Season Ticket, worth every Kroner Stig paid for it.

Dudek just cleared it to Saha. Ugh. Traore saves his bacon.

Owen scuffs one chance, and then very shortly after that he scores his 23rd of the season. Vladimir Smicer is having one of his "good" matches.

    2-0 to the good.

  14. GOAL!

Owen 59'. Great through-ball from Smicer; Owen beats Taylor one-on-one.

    Liverpool 2-0 Fulham

Hunter does his best (worst) impression, announcing that Fulham are about to introduce Elvis (Hammond). Lanky's soulmate would be proud.

Several penalty appeals by the Reds go unrewarded. Chelsea leads Bolton 1-0. Come on you Trotters!

Kop sings "Are you Riley in disguise?". Riley, by the way, is the 4th official today.

Just back from 5 hour drive (each way) for Mini-LB's State Cup game, which he won for his side with a poachers goal in stoppage time, to get this good news. Walk on you Reds. You've gotten Big Phil the first of six.

Actually, she probably would've complained. She hates Elvis impersonators. And the only Elvis that should ever be mentioned in connection (in any capacity) with LFC is that Costello fellow.

Congrats to mini-LB for his performance. Might have to buy him a pint next time I see him!
