Alisson Szoboszlai Konate Virgil Kerkez Gravenberch Jones Frimpong Wirtz Gakpo Ekitike I know a lot of you hate Szoboszlai at right back, but I think he and Frimpong can be a really good combination on the right side. Dom can drift into the midfield and Frimpong can cover the right back position. But we need Frimpong’s pace in the front line. What I want to see is Wirtz playing with 2 behind him, an attacker to the left and the right, and also someone ahead of him. Slot would most likely pick Mac Allister over Jones, but I prefer Curtis. This needs to be the game where we see a transition in our style of play. Ever since PSV, the priority has been to tighten things up and not got beat. It has worked. We have not been beat since. If we want to achieve anything this season, at some point we will need to show we are capable of being more expansive and showing more quality. We can’t be drawing games we should be winning. Burnley at Anfield after a full week of training is a great time to start.
Two problems with a Szoboszlai at right back are that he doesn’t have the same defensive instincts as someone who is a specialist in that position and, more importantly, weakens us in midfield.
ok with it for this game. Once Salah is back (if form) I'm dropping Gakpo for Salah Sboz Wirtz behind Ekiteke, with Frimpong back as defence
I would have Frimpong as right back and Sobo ahead. Frimp can overlap and attack especially knowing Sobo can cover for him. Sobo can control the midfield, and I think Frimpong is a decent defender especially against someone with speed. If they have a big winger that may be an issue.
Sobo scores a beauty. Then cancels out. Short Replay here https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1DNm7QuEjs/?mibextid=wwXIfr
No, I can't see Slot winning the Nobel Prize for Player Motivation ... Arne Slot on Calvin Ramsay: “It’s great for him where he is at the moment. Half a year ago he came back and was in the U21s. It’s a big chance he’s having now to come to first team. When someone is unlucky with injuries someone has a chance and that’s the case with Calvin. But I still think I have better options to play, but when I was running out of options he’s already shown he’s good enough to be in and around our players.” Bloody hell. There's being blunt, and there's being unnecessarily dismissive.
There's being blunt, there's being unnecessarily dismissive, and then there's being Dutch (borrowed from Nigel Powers).
"There's only two things I hate in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures ..... and the Dutch." (borrowed from Austin Powers)

#LFC team to face Burnley: Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Jones; Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Ekitike Subs: Mamardashvili, Gomez, Robertson, Mac Allister, Endo, Chiesa, Ngumoha, Nyoni, Ramsay
I got the team right. Let’s see who plays right back. Either way, I think Dom and Frimpong are a good combo down the right side.
Come on Reds .... let's finish the day back in the top 4!! (until Villa play the Bitters tomorrow of course)
Anyone else expecting to see Burnley line up 8 men on their goal line, behind the goalie? They almost did that in our last game vs them and it got them to within a few minutes of a draw - only losing to a remarkably stooopid handball pen. Could be a long tedious game .... again. Come on REDS!!!!
Dom is very clearly not playing right back. But as far as I can tell, nobody is playing right forward.
All kidding aside why are we running the attack through Gakpo at every chance? He isn’t good enough for that.
