    Well in news to hand.......

TORRES IN CONTENTION FOR FA CUP TIE

Should we risk him, considering this is a genuine chance of Silverware this year?

    Keep Nando on the bench.

This is who I would play.

    --------------Itandje---------------
    Finnan---Skrtel---Carra-----Leto
    Yossi---Gerrard--Alonso---Kewell
    ----------Crouch--Babel-----------

    Martin
    San Jose
    Masch
    Pennant
    Torres

I am sure this lineup will change when the injury report changes. Anyone got the latest on our list of injuries (Agger, Voronin, Arbeloa, and Aurelio)?

Reportedly Agger is back in training, whisper that, but Barnsely may come too early for him. Having said that, weren't we all surprised when Pennant cam back so soon?

I'd put Stevie on the bench and play Lucas. Save SG and Mash for the Milan game in the week. Same goes for Torres. JAR should play at fullback, this is a Cup tie and will be full blooded with not a lot of skill -- just right for Johnnie. Likewise I'd play Sami with the Skirt, keeping JC as my bench player.

Yep. had to lick twice when I saw San Jse's name on the teamsheet as a sub. Hyypia was injured of course and I guess it shows the wisdom [or not] of letting Hobbs go off on loan. Then again, he could actually be better than Hobbs and simply is ripe for a call-up. Skrtel is definitely looking the business though.

Babel started most of the Chelsea game and will be on the bench...and WTF!!!...wait...no still shocked ...LETO AT LB? Youve gotta be on something that makes your brain become to creative...he is a LW and will always be so. Otherwise good team.

That would be pretty much the team I would pick though what is the situation on Aurelio? I would like to see him play on the weekend and keep Riise fresh for the Inter match.

lucas has seen more playing time recently... and i'm not saying that it's undeserved, because i've really liked what i've seen from him, but it's seemed to strangely coincide, for me, with interest in him from other teams in the transfer window, as well as the emergence of his u21 teammate pato for ac milan...

i wonder if we'll see a similar thing with leto... i don't see why rafa wouldn't loan him out if he wasn't going to see more playing time here... and this game is a perfect game for it... our left side is pretty useless, and if he ends up being useless out there -- no loss, right?

    therefore:

    finnan... skrtel... carra... riise
    yossi... SG... lucas... leto...
    crouch... babel...

and torres on the bench, to get 10 minutes... just to warm up for inter, hopefully not to have to rescue us...

    4-0 liverpool...

I don't really care who we play, but I agree that it would be nice to give Stevie, Masch, and Carra a much-needed rest.

Skrtel was more than serviceable against Chelsea and Hyypia, if recovered from his injury, will certainly suffice. Lucas needs some more time, as he's shown glimpses of a very good player, but I think he needs to get his fitness up. Good game for Xabi to shake some rust off and provide El Jefecito some recovery. When I see the full-on, all-out effort Javi gives us, I almost feel bad for him. Dude bleeds for the shirt. No need to play him against Barnsley.

I'm all for Leto playing as well on the left, but I do fear that a lineup with too many new faces invites an upset.

    Inter looms...

Settle...i said that apart from Leto, it was a good team and pretty much who i thought would start.

Ive followed the progress of Lucas for awhile now, and even though im a die-hard ARSENAL fan, i must say, you have a TOP quality player in your squad, among others yes, but this one is young, and just perhaps, you can mold into the type of players teams are built on. SG is one of them yes, but imagine having two of them, between them both, liverpool has a bright future.

    START lucas!!!

Yes, I like the early signs I have seen from Lucas. Good thing we snatched him up before Wenger could. :D:cool:

Hear, hear! I think, over the last month, he's probably been one of our two or three best players. Deserves a run out against Barnsley at the very least. I think he'll get it, too, as Rafa has really been looking to play him more. But with our depth in midfield, it can be tricky.

Rafa needs to make his Inter lineup before making this one, against a team (and I take a deep breath saying this) we should beat by at least 3 goals.

Torres should not play. For sure.
Gerrard should not play, although I'd agree if he comes on in the last 20' with the game in doubt.
We want these guys rested for Inter.

get players some rest, have players on the bench to change a game if needed, and have a team more than capable of winning while giving some players a further chance to play themselves into form (harry, xabi, crouch, skrt)

I am so pissed. I thought sure they weren't going to show it so I agreed to my wife idea to visit my daughter and son-in-law out of town over the 3 day weekend for President's Day. I figured they don't follow soccer but I could use his very good computer to listen to the e-ticket. The kickoff would be 9 a.m. where they live so we'd still be having breakfast. Now I'm going to resent not seeing the game. I'll be glad to spend a long weekend with them but .....
