So many players in great form in contention to start, but I would go unchanged from the team that faced Leverkusen. Kelleher Trent Konate Virgil Tsmikas Gravenberch MacAllister Jones Salah Diaz Gakpo
agree with that, Suss. that said - Mac desperately needs a rest, I hope he stays away from the Argie team. they play WC Quals vs Paraguay (14th) - dunno about other games.
Villa’s result of late haven’t been good. They’ve drawn their last 2 after Europe and are now on the back of a 4 game not winning streak, 1 draw and 3 straight losses. I’m not sure a visit to Anfield under lights has come at the right time for them. Hope I’m not tempting fate here.
Their manager is very good tactically, so I’m sure he will have a plan to slow us down at Anfield. The fact that they are not in good form might help him to get the players to buy into parking the bus style tactics. Had they been a good form, he would have been more inclined to have a go at us, which could have played into our hands.
before we play tomorrow City will face Brighton away - this is a weak time for City and we've seen how big a challenge Brighton can be. fingers and toes crossed - but that would be cherry on top. minimum is, we need the 3 points.
Maybe, but I’m not sure Anfield is where you play new tactics that you really haven’t played all season. I actually watched their CL game midweek (actually, it was on and I kept a weather-eye on it, rather than in-depth) and I thought they looked tired and ordinary. Their midfield wasn’t up to much and tactically Bruges kept them quiet, especially going forward. Play like that tomorrow night and they will be easy pickings. I don’t expect that, but I do think they have lost their way a bit, with the midweek/weekend schedule something they’ve yet to come to terms with.
Interestingly, at his presser today Slot mentioned that Emery basically plays the same way each game. Seemed like an odd thing to say. Maybe some 3D mental chess game going on there. Or just Arne being blunt as usual.
Aston Villa hope to have Youri Tielemans available for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Liverpool. The midfielder has not been included in Belgium’s squad for their forthcoming UEFA Nations League double-header as he manages a minor complaint. But Tielemans is expected to be fit to face the Reds this weekend before using the international period as rehabilitation. Ross Barkley has been ruled out until after the November internationals, while Matty Cash missed Wednesday’s 1-0 Champions League defeat at Club Brugge due to injury.
So it’s the usual game with us trying to get through a double wall of 8 with two spoilers in front who would be their breakout men when our upfield press breaks down. Our we pass to one of them. !! Then we sub and score.
I get it but they call pk’s for minimal - or no - contact all of the time. that was far more than minimal
