Let's get the Party started. I don't want to get GH worried again. No need for any change this week: Lineup: -------Dudek Finnan --- H --Carra ----JAR Spuds---The Captain---Didi---Harry --------MO----Emile Luzi Baros Henchoz Cheyrou EHD OK. Freely discuss.
Dear Mr Heskey, I am so sorry for the things I've been saying about you. I didn't think you still had it in you. You were the player of the game at B City and you looked like the Emile of old. I hope you play just as well next year and if you are sold please brings us some $$$. You may have added a mill to your transfer total. I look for another Owen/Heskey pair of goals against NU. GO REDS INTO EUROPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS: I think we've turned the corner.
Monsewer Oo-lee-A will rest easy knowing his job is done until Saturday. There's only one Emile Heskey...!!!
He left me an IM to that effect. It's remarkable how well we can look when Stevie has just a bit of help. Emile is still someone I think we should keep. The two D's from Africa should go, along with Cheyrou but keep the strong, dependable, willing, and unperturbable MR EM. There is indeed only one of them.
Well, if Dr. H can't start, I doubt he'd be in the squad, period. So Biscan as a sub. FSP over EHD. The XI look good. ----
I think Carra should play center half even if the good Doctor is ready. With him in the middle and JAR and Finnan at fullback we have our best back line. One that can attack as well as defend. Jamie can look slow at the fullback but fast at the center.
agreed, no need to rush henchoz back into the lineup. Houllier should and prolly will stick with the same starters. i know, i know, no excuse for only getting 4th place and all that bull... but i am excited for this game. last year we failed to get Cl. this year we should get back in Cl. hopefully, this will bring us some good signings over the summer and carry us through to glory next year.
line up looks good carra in the middle gives the most agile back line we could produce. now just add dawson in the summer, and along with otsemobor, we will have a solid back line. EHD should never even be allowed to see Anfield again, let alone be on the subs bench. Same goes for Biscan.
Well, I knew it would provoke controversy but my subs are predicated on Baros giving a strike option, Henchoz a defender (either fullback or center half), Cheyrou a midfielder, and EHD a wing or striker in a pinch. Personally if he's healthy I'd rather have TLT than Cheyrou but GH obstinately avoids that choice. FSP could fill the strike part of the EHD equation but he's not a wing. Smicer is still unavailable. So that's my logic -- take it or leave it.
Funny thing is that Smicer actually may be fit in time: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N144816040509-0838.htm First I'd read of this. So if true, I'd take him before either EHD or FSP. ----
I've been shouting this from the rooftops for awhile. I dont' even care if Henchoz is fit. I'm actually of he opinion that GH had Carra in mind for CB when he bought Finnan. As Gabbage and I have discussed before, Carra may not be more agile or quicker than Henchoz, but at least he can pass it out of the back. I'm sick of longball. Also, what happened to all you Riise haters? I thought two months ago he was going to be sold for cafeteria silverware? He may not be a shutdown LB but he fits well there and he has a niche. I think a big key to this game will be the wing match-ups, specifically how JAR plays against Ambrose and Finnan vs. Robert. If el Capitano has to track down those guys, it will be a long day.
If we play with the same level of authority which we showed at Birmingham, I think we'll beat Newcastle.
I don't think it was "Riise Hating" Jon Arne went WAY off form, missing assignments and hoofing long balls that went nowhere near any of our players, or any players for that matter.. He's making a comeback and found form again just at the right time. One of his left foot bombs would come in handy this Sat.
I definitely think that we should keep the same lineup as the last 3 games, I think everyone has really worked well together, especially against Birmingham. And if we come out with that confidence and style of play against Newcastle on saturday, they won't be able to touch us.
Can we change the lineup a bit now that we don't need the game? Maybe give some of the younger lads a chance. Maybe Welsh or Pongolle. How about giving Diouf a chance to play in his natural position up front. I'm sure Houllier will go with his normal lineup, but this is a good chance to give some of the youngsters a chance to show what they can do. They could show the manager if they will be ready to play a role in the 1st team next season.
Well the Scum aren't going to use their best lineup against Villa. And we wouldn't be throwing the game away anyway. It would just be nice to see 2 or 3 younger guys in the squad.
Five on the trot...!!! Wouldn't that be a nice way to end the season and give us something to us as a springboard to start the next...???
Resting up before the last league match. He almost forgot it was page two. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT...??? GO YOU REDS...!!!
If any of you guys are in L.A., specifically the South Bay, I'll be watching that match at The Underground in Hermosa Beach along with some breakfast. I just found out recently that they show the EPL pay-per-view games for free there.
Jeesus, when I lived down that way. El Segundo, Redildo, then Playa del Rey. They wouldn't have dreamt about putting football on TV. Santa Monica had a good crowd of ex pat. brits and krauts though. Had fun there one time. They showed the movie GOAL! ( yes. it was that long ago martha!) as a special in the local movie theatre. Krauts to the left, Brits to the right. Outstanding time. Used to do Football in the "Mucky Duck" When it was alive and well.
Are you talking about the c o c k and bull? I used to work by there and would go there for lunch to watch games. The Undgerground actually used to be called Besties...as in George Best. He used to own the place. I don't know who owns it now but its probably still "British" ownership. I'm pretty sure they used to show games there all the time. I know they opened up in the middle of the night for the last world cup.
