Materazzi was beaten both times and he pulled Torres down because he couldn't deal with his pace. They weren't violent fouls, but he knew exactly what he was doing, and thats not allowed.

Read the rules...Materazi was the last defender which makes the fouls more serious.

If Carragher was given two yellows like that every single person on here would be crying...MATCH FIXING!! CHEATING ITALIANS!!

What complete BS. Mascharano tackles from behind earlier and gets nothing.

extremely harsh sending off imo, but now we gotta make the most of it.

He wasn't the last man, and it was in no way a goal scoring oppo from there.

With Inter going a man down space has really opened up for us in the midfield. Now only if our strikers and Babel could get their touches down.

Masch played the ball. Materrazzi didn't either time. His only intention was to pull down Torres because he knew he was beaten.

Nope I meant Materazzi, he's useless. He managed to get sent off 4 times in one season for us. I'd have rather had Frank Sinclair than that goon.

No Materazzi is a useless oaf.

Both of his fouls were stupid fouls. He has done that same thing throughout his entire career. No one likes the guy, perhaps maybe his family, and he isn't that good.

At some point we are going to want Crouch in the box. I can't see us passing our way through their defense.

If we can't continue to finish our chances, shouldn't we bring on Crouch in the 2nd half. Especially now that Materazzi is out, Crouch should have a good chance at goal.

Agreed. Even though we just went close with a great one-two. Where was the back post run? Kuyt?

Kuyt just had a nice volley on net. Easy save.

I think we have played a good half of soccer. Not a great half, but a solid half. We have momentum now let's score one maybe two in the second half and send them back to Italy moaning.

Just this game it seems like Kuyt has been growing a little bit in confidence. It is good to see.

Decent half. The calls on Materazzi were harsh but sometimes a-holes like him need to be extra careful due to their reputation.

Gotta stuff one in in the 2nd half... get Crouch on there.

He hasn't made any major mistakes but he hasn't really stood out. He actually has been one of our better players as of recent, and I am not incredibly surprised to see him start.
