We are still perilously close to the danger zone but I prefer looking forward and up-- only look at the previous match in terms of what could be improved, and there is plenty of little things. No time to feel sorry for ourselves having had the seasiders do the double over us; we need to avoid another unwelcome double as the bitters make the short hop across Stanley Park on Sunday.

    -----------------------Reina-------------------
    ---Kelly----Skrtel-----Agger------Aurelio---
    -------Johnson------Lucas----Meireles----Cole
    -------------Babel--------------Torres------

Subs:- Gulasci, Rodriguez, Pacheco, Spearing, Kyrgiakos, N'gog, Kuijt.

There have also been some small but positive steps; the players realise, once more, that football is played on the deck and Torres is looking hungry, once more, at no longer being merely used to field hopeful punts. We need to go one step further and get out of the Hodgson-mind set of waiting for the opposition to make an error for us to score ;-). We need some invention when we get to the opposition box.

    Go redmen!

I hear the referee is Phil Dowd. Looks like we're shut of Webb until the skanks' visit ;)

As poor as Kuyt's been I'd play him as he always seems to raise his game for the derby and Cole has still yet to prove he's capable of playing 90 mins(tbh he usually looks knackered after 30) so should be on the bench.

Hopefully someone will get some revenge on Fellaini for last season.

I thought about Kuijt but thought he's looked absolutely shattered in the last two matches. You're right about Joe Cole-- does anybody know if he smokes at all? He seems to run out of puff, a quarter of the way through a match. I had selected him to start because he at least comes with a reputation for creativeness.

I'd be tempted to run the Greek out there, if only to rough up that bitch-ass Fellaini again. There really is no one in world football that I hold in higher contempt than him and I don't think he's ever played a game where he didn't make at least one potentially season-ending tackle on someone.

Dirtiest player in the Prem, IMO. I would pay good money to see an El-Hadj Diouf-Fellaini death match.

I would have Kuyt play just behind Torres. His form has been poor, but Torres appreciates the work he does and enjoys playing with him. It is all about getting the best out of Torres IMO. You can have your pick of left wingers. Maxi and Babel have repeatedly failed to impress. Jovanavic is not Liverpool quality. Maybe Joe Cole is the best option. Kenny, Henry, Commoli, and company better be hard at work to upgrade this position. A top class left winger could make all the difference in our attack. Takes the pressure off of Gerrard and Torres and allows Kuyt to perform his role without being relied on to break open defenses.

Johnson on the right wing is a no brainier at this point. He has been so bad at the back and we have been so bad on the wings. We have to find some use for his obvious talent. I think he can score and create goals if his head his right. Maybe he can score one for his new baby. It would also be a shame to bench one of the few players who has done well...Martin Kelly.

Pacheco must be on the bench. We need someone capable of coming on and changing the game, because our starting lineup will no doubt struggle to create chances. I would love to see 10 minutes of Suso as well, but maybe the derby isn't the best time for that.

    Good post Suss.

This 4 or 6 pack of uniformity on the left is killing us.

We need to circle the wagons.

Johnson with Kelly behind him could be very good if we were lucky. We really should try that.

Johnson AND Kelly would also be very defensively sound against an in-form Leighton Baines.

Luckily for us my favourite Australian, Mr.Headed Goals, is away in Qatar to win the Asian Cup.

I have a good feeling about this game. First game at home for Dalglish the fans will be really behind this team. On another note, if players cant be motivated enough to be coached/managed by such a legend than they have no place in football. 100% commitment is needed. Under Roy no one cared about the badge that's what it felt like. Hopefully King Kenny lights such a livid fire under their arses.

What a blessing. Especially when you take into account how horrid the defense has been of late.

The bolded language simply cannot coexist in a sentence without a prominent "not". I believe this is found in northern-hemisphere Grammar textbooks.

Grammar Rule 45: If "Glen Johnson", or "Johnson", is in a sentence with any phrase regarding defensive acuity (such as "good at defence" or "defensively sound"), a "not" must be inserted even if there are attempts to qualify it by suggesting another player can make Glen Johnson good at defense.

I really dont know who he's going to play. He rotated after mancs due to knackered and for team building, so if the same thing applys he could do anything.

Cole and Fabio in? Fabio at lw and Koncheskey at lb? Babel or Ngog or both on? Kuyt rested? Raul or Lucas rested? 3rd Asst groundskeeper's young lad who showed well in a kick around last week at second striker?

The list goes on. I like red birds line up pretty well but this is 3 in 8 days now including the mancs with 10 men.

As long as we beat em 2-0 and Fellateme gets at least 3 serious kicks i'll be right happy.

I'm in. It's gotta turn soon. Lets make Sunday the day.

We support the team that's dressed in Red
A team that we all know
A team that we call Liverpool
And to glory we will go

We've won the League, we've won the Cup
    We've been to Europe too
We played the Toffees for a laugh
And we left them feeling blue - Five Nil!

    One two
    One two three
    One two three four
    Five nil!

Harry Kewell is playing as Australia's centre-forward with Cahill just behind. Scored in the first match against....cough....India...cough.

That's awesome! -- and at the same time sad because it's true. I'd like to see Cole start since Liverpool sorely lacked creativity against Blackpool. Don't know if he's got the endurance to play a full 90, but he can't play any worse than Jovanovich did on Wednesday.

I'd be more confident if Stevie & Carra were playing. You think Maxi or Jovanavic know the importance of the derby match? Cahill's absence may negate this a bit, but it'll be struggle for 3pts methinks.

I hope Joe Cole gets a chance tomorrow. I still think he's a good enough player. I know, I know, I hear it all the time ... not saying I think he's been on form, but I think against Everton he might just be the right guy.

Do people think Joe Cole is 'creative' because he takes at least 27 touches every time he receives the ball?

Most overrated player to ever wear the Liverpool shirt. One of the most overrated players ever in the world.

He should never see the pitch again for any club in a top division.
