At the demand of Stig, here it is. Lineup (very speculative at this point) --------Kirkland Finnan ---Sami---Ayala --- Carra Murphy---Aimar--SG---Harry ------MO----Cisse Bench: Everyone else its a friendly. Bomb away. I'm off to a U-13 tournament with MiniLB.
Gracias...now Stig can get on with beverage planning! (Got your favorite covered, by the way, LB) Friendly? This will be a LoveFest. Stig R.I.P. Juve 39
So the whole crowd gets to sing YNWA. A definate lack of imagination on those Celtic bastards part, and jealousy on my part because I won't be there. Hope it's on TV.....hoping that someone will let the lazy bugger know.
Me three! Got the LB LoveVan warmed up and ready to go. We will need to plan where the BSers can meet up.
"a definate (sp) lack of imagination.." and "celtic bastards" usscouse, please show more respect to the Celtic support. A support who've sung 'You'll Never Walk Alone" with passion and pride for 40 years. YNWA is about belief. A belief in your club, your support and your city. That's what carries us through the bad times and let's us appreciate the glory. Get a ticket and you'll experience nothing greater than Liverpool and Celtic support believing together.
Oh, I'm sure UsScouse was having you on. No one will ever forget the first game back after Hillsborough at Parkhead -- 67,000 singing YNWA! I've been to Anfield and Parkhead and they are both very special places with very special supporters. I'll be there in Hartford with my split Liverpool/Celtic YNWA scarf I bought on Walton Breck Road a few years ago.
I suppose I can forgive your first post in so much as you don't know me or the guys on this special [Liverpool] board. If you took the time to read it and not react in some knee jerk manner you'd realize the my comment was aimed in fun at Liverbird and part jealousy because I couldn't be there. If you looked farther back you'd see that I'm probably on the losing side of this exchange "Celtic Bastard!" I was on the Kop the first day they played the Scouse Gerry Marsden's rendering of YNWA and many, many times since. Quite a long while before Celtic fans decided it was too good for one team (Or perhaps thought that some of the luck and glory would rub off) and adopted it for themselves. Now I hear it everywhere, not just as the "Liverpool Anthem" but from crowds in France, Germany and most recently I heard it at the UAFA final in Sweden. DefinAtive lack of imagination...! Aside:- You know, spelling was always and still is a weak point of mine. Thank you for pointing that out. It didn't stop me from having a couple of books published though. You can still find one listed on amazon.com. But sadly there's no "Spell checker" on BS. As for "Get a ticket and you'll experience nothing greater than Liverpool and Celtic support believing together" I'd have to get up really early in the day to drive 3,000 miles to see it, I'll decline. Lousy excuse eh! So I'll just have to live a while longer on past experiences. Like both legs of the European Cup 1964 and other great matches since. I hope you hang around this board some more and find out it really is an oasis of football knowledge and information, tempered with humour. (or humor) In the Chaos of Big Soccer......!!!
usscouse. Apologies. I appreciate the kick up the jacksy and I'll avoid jumping in, uninvited, with the bovvers on. A lesson learned. Cheers for keeping the banter door open. (incidentally, I didn't just hastily react to your comment. I sent an email to a mate about tickets for the match, thinking it was at Anfield.. the www and too many stella don't mix well).
Stella...! At least I've found a place that serves Newcastle Brown and before you say anything, it's that or Bud 'lite' Glad you didn't run off I think you have ideas to share. (Like who is our next manager?) After the match, I'll tell you of the drive and you can let us know how the swim went...!
Liverpool and Celtic's rendition should be stellar. we (the ny supporters) went to the celtic pub, the parlour, to join them for the two games, and i must say, they were very welcoming, and the singing in that pub was sensational. this game will be my girlfriends first attendance at a soccer match, she's seen the reds on telly but that's all, and she'll not know what hit her when we all start up! oh, and she's started a new job, and the barman at the restaurant she's at, used to live right by the stadium, so expect some top recommendations of bars to hit!!!!
Nuke Brown, Tennesee Williams and a pun so subtle Oscar Wilde would have looked twice...you'll have to google for hours finding a web board more cultured. usscouse, I've been out today checking out the goose fat for my worthy quest. I've downloaded An Idiots Guide to Crossing the Atlantic, by Richard Branson. According to that I need to leave from Hull on Friday... The new manager will be confirmed by mid June say LFC. I'm sure you'll have heard the same names being touted as I have. For me, Curbishley will get it. There maybe more famous names around, but I reckon he's the right man. Curbishley is a Football Club Manager, not just a team manager or coach. He'll build the club from the inside and create his version of 'the Liverpool way'. Without doubt he'll get the best out of the players. And he'll move on the underachievers. Big question is who would he buy. Any suggestions?
Tennesee Williams??? I thought it was Maron Brando. Curbs is as you say, a good club man but can he step it up a couple of notches. As Shanks once said "This is Anfield" it's not some middle of the table club with moments of glory. Whoever it is and we've had lots of chances here to let the club know how we feel about it. (They have to read this web every day.) He really has to rise to the occasion and the challenge. As for players, well as this man says here:-https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111378&page=3 'ull..! Do they still have a port at 'ull...?
Bump How about a lineup --- only 13 days til the game. ----------Kirkland Finnan ---H---Carra---- JAR TLT---SG---Welch-- Kewell ====MO=====Cisse Bench: every body else I know a lot could change in those 13 days. But gotta have something to start us talking.
