What LB, no thread for the game yet? I'm surprised. Kirkland Josemi - Carra - H - Traore Garcia - Alonso - Didi - Riise Kewell - FSP? What do you think?
No chance? As far as i'm concerned, HK deserves nothing more than a good run-in with the reserves. Kirky Finnan - Carra - Hyypia - Traore (could'nt stand SF a while back, but he's coming around) Garcia - Biscan - Alonso - Warnock (he should be on the sheet every match) Baros - Mellor (Mellor deserves a run in the team. Right now is the perfect time for him to prove his worth. I've heard too much, and never really seen him play. If we'd take advantage of the reserves we have, instead of seeking a new addition to the team, we'd probably do alright)
The lineup is going to be very similar to the one that faced Milwall. Rafa said that Mellor, Whitbread, Potter, Warnock, Biscan, and Diao will all play. "I will use all the youngsters. I have the same idea as against Millwall," said Benitez. "Igor Biscan and Salif Diao will play. Xabi and others will rest. "We have to think of all the competitions and it would be impossible to do well in them all with the same players every game. "I think the fans would agree with me that in terms of importance, it's the Premiership, then Champions League, then the FA Cup and then the Carling Cup. "We want to win all the tournaments, but there are priorities. I won't take risks in the Carling Cup, especially now we have lost Baros, although I think he'll be back next week."
I wonder if we'll ever see the best of Kewell. I've read statements from him in the past, about him not playing to his capability. But words are one thing. He's never really shown the form that made him so dangerous at Leeds. Perhaps he should play. It's obvious that Rafa is willing to give the youngsters more playing time, but I think he should use Kewell and experiment with him a bit more. I'd obviously like to see him force his way into the side and be automatic start for every game, but whenever I hear his name being mentioned in the side, I'm thinking 'Squad player. Someone must be injured
Wow I feel like a complete idiot, I put in a lineup that we would play for a prem game. I'm just so used to it, it's what I put, yes most definitely it should be the same side most likely as the game against Millwall. I feel stupid.
Is Mellor a centre forward type or someone who likes to get behind the defence? If so and he does well in this game, it could be worth trying him up front alongside Baros in the more important games. The "Couldn't-Care-Less" Cup is a good chance to look at some young players.
My prediction: Dudek Finnan Henchoz Whitbread Traore Potter Diao Biscan Warnock Sinama-Pongelle Mellor
i dunno whther to go to this game or not, although its great going to the games, when we put teams like this out it really is a turn off although biscans mine, and the kops new hero so if he plays i might make my way down to anfield
1 Jerzy Dudek 3 Steve Finnan 2 Stephane Henchoz 21 Djimi Traore 37 Zak Whitbread 25 Igor Biscan 15 Salif Alassane Diao 34 Darren Potter 28 Stephen Warnock 33 Neil Mellor 24 Florent Sinama Pongolle 29 Patrice Luzi Bernardi 31 David Raven 32 John Welsh 26 Richie Partridge 6 John Arne Riise
Carlo Nash 12 Colin Cooper 23 Andrew Davies 24 Franck Queudrue 3 Chris Riggott 5 Guidoni Junior Doriva 20 Stewart Downing 19 James Morrison 25 Boudewijn Zenden 32 Joseph-Desire Job 16 Mark Viduka 36 Mark Schwarzer 1 Anthony McMahon 29 George Boateng 7 Mark Wilson 17 Danny Graham 30 At least Boateng is on the bench tonight. He has a habit of stomping on a player occasionally, then bitched incessantly when Stevie gave it right back.
I wouldn't be upset if we wnet out tonight. However - Liverpool have a weak squad......so you never know.
I don't have anyway of knowing what is going on in the match. I don't have an E-Season ticket and Soccernet doesn't do their live commentary for Carling Cup matches. Any E-Season ticket holders wanna help us out here? LB? Lanky?
Sorry, I was having trouble getting the e-season ticket console, but it seems to be working fine now. Good play by Biscan to give it to Potter, who puts it over the bar.
